My beloved Grandmother, Nanny, used to make this recipe. During the winter, she would have a piece of the cake and a mug of hot chocolate with me when I got home from school. I lost the recipe when we moved away from the farm. This brings back memories from many, many years ago. Thank you for the trip back in time.

I've been making this cake for over 40 years... and my grandmother made it before that. She got the recipe from an old Good Housekeeping magazine. Always a family favorite that works well for work carry-ins. Better the 2nd day and great for breakfast
