"Snicker"doodles
SORRY, BUT I HAVE TO TOTALLY AGREE WITH BARBARA FROM TEXAS. THIS SHOULD BE RE-NAMED AS SOME SORT OF SPICE COOKIE. CREAM OF TARTAR BELONGS IN SNICKERDOODLES! (IF YOU ARE GOING TO ADD ZESTS & SPICES----NOT A TRUE SNICKERDOODLE. I HAVE AN ENTIRE BOOK OF COOKIES COLLECTED OVER THE YEARS AND NOT ONE SNICKERDOODLE RECIPE ELIMINATES CREAM OF TARTAR.

NOT a Snickerdoodle
Cream of Tartar is what makes a Snickerdoodle a Snickerdoodle. A little research will confirm this. If it doesn't have Cream of Tartar, it's not a Snickerdoodle. Simple. Just like if it doesn't have chocolate chips, it's not a chocolate chip cookie. It might be a delicious cookie, but it's not a Snickerdoodle. It should have a different name.

snickerdoodoo Diane
Geeze Diane, lighten up!! Who died and made you the 'doodle' Queen?? There are, more than likely, just as many recipes for doodles as there are for potato salad!!

This is a GREAT cookie recipe!!!
12/15/2011 I made these yesterday with a little modification!! My husband loved them!! I used TWO teaspoons of grated rind instead of ONE. Squeezed the orange & added the juice to the creamed sugar & butter mixture. We love the orange flavor.

Delicious cookies
One of the best cookies I have ever tasted in my lifetime. There will be no other cookie that will top this one in my book.

Similar to My Recipe
I grew up with my mom making Snickerdoodles every Christmas. I still make them since they're now my kids' favorites. However, I don't use nutmeg, orange or lemon zest. I've had them with the citrus flavor (sometimes with vanilla extract) and I didn't care for them with those ingredients. Without the zest and nutmeg, etc., they taste like a soft sugar or butter cookie that's been rolled in cinnamon & sugar. They are DELICIOUS!

Not a Snickerdoodle
I have been making and testing recipes for Snickerdoodles for years and will try this. BUT Snickerdoodles have Cream of Tartar which gives it the unique taste. Give this one another name.
