We love this cookie. I make some exceptions for health reasons. I add only 2T of butter and substitute the rest

Could these be made with canola oil and splenda?
Could'nt these beauties be made with Canola Oil in stead of butter or margarine and splenda instead of refined sugar? Maybe adding a little applesauce to balance the formula? If they could they could become a favorite with those who are watching there cholestrol and/or carbohydrate/sugar intake for their health. A big audience for such recipes out there.
