Disaster
I should have read the reviews before I wasted my time and money on the ingredients. This was way too sweet and didn't bake up like the picture. I would suggest removing this recipe from cooking.com

NO WAX PAPER
Please do not use wax paper when baking any kind of cookies yes it will tick. Parment or foil would have made them non stick. I knew this was bad when i say them telling u to use wax paper or parchment.

Very good, but reduce the sugar!
I made a half-batch, which should have made 2 dozen, yet I ended up with 5 dozen!!! Obviously, I made mine much smaller than called for, and that may be a good thing, because I had evenly-baked cookies and nice chewiness. Yummy! However, they were way too sweet. Next time I am going to drastically reduce the sugar and omit the rum, whose purpose/benefit I didn't see. Also, I am going to bake them straight on a non-stick sheet, forget the paper.

coconut drop cookies
these cookies turn out very thin and crisp without much flavor. they are very sweet. I used almond extract instead of the rum. I did not have a difficult time removing them from the parchment paper. I did let them sit for 2-3 minutes before putting them on the cooling racks. expensive to make not really worth it. ingredientsr

Coconut Drop Cookies
Loved the sounds of this cookie, with my own spin. What a mess. Not only did I need to extract shards of paper from the bottom of the cookies (which took 4 times as long a making them) but some seemed to cook unevenly (even turning the pans). I tried reducing the sugar in some of my cookies, I added crushed pineapple, nothing seemed to help the cookie from being a disaster!

DISASTER!!!
Don't bother with this recipe. As Patricia from Texas says, they'll end up flattened, stuck to the wax paper, and eventually in the trash. A real waste of money and time. Clearly, no one from cooking.com tested this recipe before they put it up...or they just wanted to torture us. Seriously, don't do it to yourself.

Waste of time and money
I don't know if I did something wrong, but the cookies did not turn out as what they looked like. Even after chilling the dough overnight, the dough spread way too thin and had a weird, tough texture while still being underdone. Also, the cookies were absolutely glued to the paper if not removed IMMEDIATELY onto a cooling rack. Even so, it was tacky enough that it made removing the cookies very hard as they were still very pliable and breakable. I threw the rest of the dough away.

It seems that it would make more that 4 dozen cookies. Way too much sugar. Don't think I would make them.

I love coconut...
It's hard to go wrong with a coconut dessert (for me) - I love it so. These cookies are not exception. The only adjustment I'd make would be to reduce the sugar. If you are already using sweetened coconut as I was, the 6 cups of sugar is just a tad much. I did 5 1/2 and it was still very sweet. I might even go a little lower next time. Nonetheless, these make a delicious cookie if you are a coconut lover.
