Thought they were great
I made these several years ago and saved the recipe because I thought they were so good. They came out great for me.

Did I do something wrong??????
I made the recipe exactly as directed except for exchanging cocoa powder and shortening for baking chocolate squares. My cookies were refrigerated for 6 hours, and were so hard to get out of the bowl that I wondered if the cocoa exchange was a good idea! Then, they did NOT spread out; they were not what I would call "crinkly"; and they were so hard that my friends and I deemed them "inedible." Could this have been caused by the cocoa powder????? Does anyone have an answer????

Disappointing!
I liked the name of the recipe and the comment. When I went to make these cookies, I thought it unusual to see so much flour (3 1/2 c.) to so little fat (1/2 c.). I even wondered if this was a mistake. I followed the recipe carefully (but omitted the nuts). I refrigerated the dough for 4 hours. When i went to bake the cookies, the dough was really hard and difficult to scoop out of the bowl. The cookies did not spread as described, nor where they crinkly. They tasted flour-y. So disappointing!
