Best way to do salmon!
If you buy a "1 by 6" cedar fence board from your local lumberyard for less than $2.00, it will NOT be treated lumber (ask to be sure). We're empty-nesters, so a 12-14 ounce fillet is plenty for us. This fits on a 8" or 9" long piece of above-mentioned fence board, which is a lot easier to soak. As some people already mentioned, this is actually baking - therefore you can do it on the plank in your oven if you don't have a BBQ grill or the weather is awful - try 12-15 minutes at 450 degrees.

Agree with the other review that said this was baked. It's easy to still grill a salmon or any fresh fish using an old fisherman's trick. Slice the filet(s) off the fish but leave the skin and scales ON. Place skin w/scales down on the grill over moderate heat. It will turn out delicious and not dried out in the least. Champagne goes with everything.

Grilled?
Just a comment, really. This recipe says to 'grill' the salmon, but it is on a plank, so it is actually baked. Also, I believe that a light red, such as pinot noir, is best with salmon. I would even go as light as a good french rose.

Super and sooo easy
This is a terrific recipe. I didn't have any dill on hand, so I used marjaram. I love salmon, and eat it about twice a week, so all easy recipes are most welcome. Be sure to let the plank soak for a long time, as this is what smokes the fish.
