Kashi
Mariette, if you read the next line, it will say "Kashi", at least it does on my computer. There was just no room on that line so it would say "cereal such as Kashi".

Worked even with egg substitute!
I have an egg allergy so instead of the egg I combined 1 Tbsp ground flax seed with 3 Tbsp cold water and mixed it with a fork. It gives the same consistency as egg. I then put that in with the tofu etc mixture. The bars came out wonderfully! I love this recipe. I think I'll toast some organic coconut flakes in it next time.

Simply awful
I'm a baker. A good baker. But this mess is not worth the time or money. Beginning with the recipe itself, which omitted the type of "puffed cereal" (it has since been updated to suggest Kashi). I used puffed wheat. The result was tasteless, poor texture, and even using the minimum baking time, the bottom burned. Tossed the whole thing in the trash. Save your time on money.

Perfect for On-The-Go Snack
I used Kashi seven grain puffed cereal in this recipe. My daughter thinks they are fantastic. I cut them in "granola bar" shape and individually wrapped them. With 35 minutes' cooking time, they came out soft and did not stick together very well. I will cook them a little longer next time. Make sure to cut up the apricots in pretty small bits.

cereal bars
I'd like to make these but the "puffed cereal such as" does not have the example. Is this rice krispie type cereal or puffed wheat cereal or puffed rice or what?

Apricot-Walnut Cereal Bars
These are delicious, easy to make, and filling. They pack well for road trips, and freeze well.
