SUPER BOWL STEELERS HAM BARBEQUE SAMMICHES

like all bbq, the quantities in this recipe can be altered.
RECIPE INGREDIENTS
2 lbs. chipped-chopped ham (you may have to journey to Pittsburgh to find this delicacy)
2 Tbs. vegetable oil, divided
1 large green pepper, seeded & diced
1 large red pepper, seeded & diced
i large sweet onion, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
i jalepeno or habenero pepper (with seeds), minced (optional)
1 Tbsp. fresh ground pepper
1/4C apple cider vinegar
1 bottle high quality bbq sauce or 16 oz. homemade
1/2 dozen hard rolls from the bakery, (no "factory bread" please)
sweet pickles, garnish
DIRECTIONS
preheat a heavy pot over med-high heat.


add 1Tbs of oil.


break up the chipped ham and add to pot, stirring and frying until the meat shrinks and begins to brown. (no need to add salt as there is plenty in the meat).


remove meat to paper towels to drain.


wipe pot with a paper towel and add the other 1Tbs of oil.


add the peppers (along with optional jalepeno/habenero) and sweat for 3 minutes.


add the garlic and sweat for another 3 minutes (do not burn the garlic).


sprinkle the vegs with pepper and stir.


add the meat to the pot, stir in vinegar & bbq sauce and simmer for 5 minutes.


serve on hard rolls with sweet pickles.

Fabulous recipe! Takes me back to when I was a kid and Isaly's Chipped Chopped Ham BBQ Sammiches were the bomb!
