RECIPE INGREDIENTS
1/4 teaspoon onion power
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon turmeric
1/4 teaspoon ground sage
2 1/2 cups water
2 teaspoons chicken flavor base
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
4 tablespoons butter
1/3 cup orzo
1 cup long grain white rice
2 cups sliced Mushrooms (optional)
1 tablespoon dried parsley (can use fresh if you have it on hand)
DIRECTIONS
Measure dry spices and place in small dish or ramekin. Heat water to boiling and add mustard and chicken stock base. Stir well. Set aside. Melt butter in saucepan on medium heat. Add orzo. Stir until browned. Add rice, water, mushroom (if using) and spices. Heat to boiling, lower heat to simmer, cover and cook 20-25 minutes. Fluff with a fork when done.
