So far after 2 weeks its great. We have prepared 6 meals from the included receipe book and they were all excellent. The fries were some of the best ever.
We will see how it holds up over time.

Actifry

I adore the Actifry. It takes all of the work and angst out of making and eating fries. The machine is loud - like a hair dryer - and it takes a long time - about 40 minutes - to cook a small batch. It is well worth it when the end result is fries for 3 or 4 people made with only a fraction of the fat. It is easy to clean and fun to be able to produce fries so frequently for dinner.

Love the recipes&fries - but handle w/care!

I'm so thankful I read on -ine reviews about this product before I purchased or I might have been disappointed. It is an expensive product and does what it claims...cooks yummy, healthy fries and some limited recipes. It could definitely cook more, but it will take some experimenting.

If you love breaded fried foods, this will not work. The paddle that constantly stirs the food would likely knock any breading off. This was not a concern for me.

The only downside I have seen with the unit is that it could easily break if not used with a watchful eye, for at least the first 5-10 minutes of cooking. I've found that undercooked potatoes can get wedged and stop the unit from turning. I suspect this is what has caused many of the quality issues that other reviewers have noted. (broken paddles) Since I was aware of concerns...I have kept a watchful eye until the food is softened. There hav been no problems what-so-ever after that ,so long as unit is not overfilled.

Sweet potato fries are addicting. And the shrimp and new potato recipe is outstanding. This cooks the shrimp better than I get in restaurants.I feel like a gourmet chef! And it's so easy!!! I will be trying the scallop and aspargus recipe tonight. I would recommend this product to anyone who is not an experienced cook and has limited time; or to everyone who loves fries but not the guilt!

We hope to use this a long time. (BTW-my family ASKS me to make stuff with this....they rarely ask me to make anything other than grilled cheese or lasagna!) LOL

It works...but

The ActiFry makes very good French fries, but with a controlled dose of oil. The fries taste delicious (particularly with garlic added), and are suitable for many diet programs, like Weight Watchers, which my wife and I follow. It's a delight to be able to add French fries to our acceptable menus.

But. Fried potatos seem to be the beginning and end of what you need this device to do. It won't make batter-based deep-fried foods; the stirring wand would scrape the batter off. What else can it do? The included cookbook has several recipes for stir-frys, and I'm sure they work. But stir-frying is easy; you don't need a $300 appliance to do it.

Don't get me wrong. I love this device, and it's changed our menus for the better. But it takes up a lot of counter (or cabinet) space, and it has limited use.
