He gives detailed, plain-English explanations geared to both expert and novice cooks on not only the "what" but the "how" and "why" of each product. Especially appreciated by this reader is the list of manufacturers, websites, phone numbers and addresses of the products mentioned in the book.

If you are a Good Eats fan, while reading this book, you will actually be able to here Alton Brown in your head and the way he writes it, you actually start to picture his mannerisms just like he does in his show when trying to make a point or explain something. I would definitely give this book 5+ stars for overall composition and useful information. A must buy for anyone who doesn't really know what they need in the kitchen and for those that have too much in the kitchen.

The friendly and folksy way of Altons delivery made it a very enjoyable book to read. It progressed in a very logical and well thought out manner. I would reccomend this to anyone.

I was on the road to kitchen inefficiency, but with this book as my guide, I'm on my way to actually enjoying working in an efficient and fun kitchen.
