Enjoy the clever ideas throughout -- twelve months of birthday cake ideas, showing how to decorate a cake to match each month's gem stone, pointers to make setting up a kitchen easy, or hints to make housework more pleasant.

Feel a part of history when making Home Front Macaroni, developed during WW II rationing to stretch meat. Get into the spirit of fun with a Betty Crocker Cookie Shine or cookie baking party. I was very disappointed in this cookbook. It was sold as "like the 1950's edition". There were some pages that are the same (the pictures pages) but the recipes are not the same and in many cases there is a key recipe with modification to it for other recipes. Such as, the recipe for "Ethel's Sugar Cookies in the old book is now just a key recipe that is modified -- and not even anything like the original recipe for sugar cookies. The Chocolate Chip recipe is the same. Over all I would not recommend this if you are looking to replace an old edition. Very disappointing.

Although I didn't open it, it's for my sister's birthday in Oct. Looks really nice and I know she'll love it. After I look through hers I might buy myself one. How about Re-publishing the 1961 "The New Picture Cookbook" as well?

my mother received this cookbook as an engagement gift from my father. She used the wonderful cookbook to learn to cook. I,in turn, purchased my own copy. The recipes are timeless. Anytime I make anything this is the book i turn to. The book has truly been a life saver for me and my mom. She fed a husband and six childern many delicious tried and true "betty crocker" meals. I am carrying on the tradition! This copy was a gift from my dad to my sister. She always has to call me for our favorite dumpling recipe. She feeds a husband and five children!

Betty Crocker Cookbook

by Shirley, OK
July 14, 2010

This is the cookbook that I began my married life with. It truly is one of the best still after all these years. Lots of the graces of good dineing and table graces have been lost over the years. I am fortunate to find this edition again. I am giveing it to all my grandaughters and great grandaughters. It has a wonderful store of time tested recipes. I am now in my mid 70s and still use my original Cookbook that was given to me as a wedding present in 1954. Tattered and worn but still in use. Thanks for bringing back this addition.

It is very interesting to see what the cook's life was in the 1950's and how different it is from today.

Very personal

I was given as a wedding present a Betty Crocker cookbook (1961 edition) and have loved it all my life. I believe Betty Crocker has been my 'mother' cook since my mom died from cancer when I was 10 years old and my step mother and I never became too close while I lived at home. I watched her cook but she never taught me anything therefore the cookbook was everthing to me and I have always wanted the original so when I saw this bargain, I could not ignore it. I am so happy I got it since looking thru it brought back ideas and old, simple ways to do things.

The Very Best Gift for Grandkids

by Shirley, IL
September 9, 2010

For 60 years the recipes I've made from the 1950 Betty Crocker Picture Cookbook, have helped to earn my reputation as an "excellent cook and hostess". Many of the recipes that have become traditional favorites of our family have been eliminated in some of the newer editions. I have to wonder why. Seems our younger generations are being shortchanged. That is one reason I have ordered two of this cookbook. Now, my grandchildren will have the very recipes they have grown to love as "stuff that Oma makes." Another comforting thought is that my grandchildren will always be able to refresh their lessons on proper table settings by refering to their 1950's edition. My newer editions have also eliminated this very important part of presenting culinary skills in a proper and tasteful way. Thank you for this facsimile copy.

I am looking now for the shipping paper so I can return it. It is nowhere near what I thought it would be. I do not now or ever will cook using bisquick and alot of the recipes in the book call for using bisquick. I only use gold medal self rising flour. My mom taught me how to cook some things and all the others I have forgotten and I was hoping the recipes would be in that book but boy was I unpleasantly suprised. Big Loss.

Tradition at it's Best!

by Shirley, IL
November 24, 2010

Earlier this fall, I ordered 2 BC facsimile cookbooks. I gave our granddaughter one for her 24th birthday. As a result, she is helping her mother cook 2010 Thanksgiving Dinner for the whole family. Many of this families traditional recipes came from this cookbook. Several much younger family friends have really scrutinized the book and have expressed the desire to have "this amazing book". I have ordered and received 2 more. Thank you again.

A great gift!

by Michael, GA

I received this cookbook as a gift and love it! I use it all the time. My mother-in-law saw it and was jealous because she no longer had hers. She missed all those "family" recipes her mom used to make. So I ordered her one for Christmas!

Perfect Gift

My mom had the original of this cookbook and it's so old its pages are falling out. I bought this replacement for her for Christmas and she loves it. I even ordered one for myself. Looking through it brought back great childhood memories of cooking with mom's old cookbook. This one is a true copy of the original and would make a wonderful gift for anyone.

Excellent Cookbook

by Mary, MD
April 24, 2009

I grew up using this cookbook. My Mom had it and I loved so many of the recipes so 7 years ago when I saw it for sale, I bought it, then I bought another one and gave it away as a gift, then I bought these two and gave one to another sister and the other was donated for a Silent Auction to raise money to help my Church's school raise money. I use this cookbook for entertaining family and friends.
