Somewhat disappointing
I had purchased the rib rack for use with baby back ribs which we usually cut in half in order to fit on the grill. The problem is that arches in the rack are far too tall for baby backs, so they just fall over as you are trying to put them in. It does work well for full-size ribs, however.
Also, this rack is definitely not non-stick. We have non-non stick racks that we used at the same time and they cleaned up with one run through the dishwasher. This rack took two runs through the dishwasher and still wasn't completely clean at the end.
All in all, very disappointing.
All that and more...
I've been a big BBQ/Smoker guy for about 6 years now. I've gone through my share of rib racks (all failures). The Charcoal Companion rack is as close to perfect as I've found (thanks to Cooks Illustrated's review). Mind you, there are still some slight mods I'd make, but overall, well worth the price. Here's my experience with pork spareribs, St. Louis style:
-5 racks of ribs: It says it can hold 6 and although true, they'd have to be 3/4-1/2 slab. The rib "slots" are separated by curved steel so it supports the center of the rib, but the ends of the ribs flop on to each other-not good for smoke penetration. I had to cut my ribs in 1/2 and use both Rib-Racks (yup, ordered two). At about 8" slabs, or better yet, Baby-backs, you should be fine. Suggestion would be to square off the steel and make it wider therefore supporting more of the rib.
-Reverse Chicken Roaster: Yes, but....who needs something to hold a chicken on the grill? Tie the legs and place it on the grill. If you're buying it for this purpose only, don't waste your money. Get that turkey v-rack you pull out once a year. Or better yet, don't use one. You don't need it.This is a marketing message only to show it's not a uni-tasker.
-Clean up: in a smoker, when something's cooking for 6-8 hours, there really is no such thing as non-stick. And this product is no different. So do yourself a favor, spray it down with cooking spray first before placing the ribs. The combination of both a non-stick surface and the oil will save you a few minutes in the sink.
Overall, this is a home run. If you grill ribs once a year, you will want to get this rack. It's worth every penny and will save you in both time and money.
Roasting/Rib Rack
Was not very impressed !!! It's not very efficient for gas grills, maybe for charcoal grills. I found it to be an additional rack to clean, besides the grates. Did not make any difference in the roasting !!!

Found that the ribs folded over due to the fact that the supports just were not high enough. Might make them an inch to an inch and a half higher to provide better support. Overall, good product for the money.

Works perfectly for holding ribs upright to allow slow grilling without burning. I did not realize it was also reversible so you can easily grill a roast without loosing it in the grill. Easy to clean.

Wow. What a Great Item for Grill enthusiast. It free's up extra room on the grill while tempering the cooking time needed for tender ribs. Love It!

Great rack and great design, but for the price the non stick coating could be better. Not dish washer safe so if the non stick surface was better clean up would be easier.

My husband received this along with the pig tail food flippers for Christmas. He likes the idea and I hope he will try it out soon. I went ahead and bought some pork ribs in hopes he does that. I mentioned he would need to cut them down to fit but of course he would already realize that. I have read the other customer reviews, some people saying they will fall over a bit but I think if you cut them to the right size they should do fine. I'm hungry, let's get cooking!
