I felt the slicer is a good design for strenth and ease of cleaning. However, I would recommendd a blade that is slanted rather than straight across. A slanted blade cuts with more ease as the food product slices through, whereas the straight blade the food comes into contact with the blade all at once needing more pressure to slice.

Not what I was hoping for my old one was out the box and easy to use but this took some getting use to. Thank goodness I live where daily I can easily go get fresh off the farm fruit and veggies. Your best bet is to use firm produce or you'll have to work a little at it. The plus side is the VERY sharp ceramic blades... be careful. I like the Oxo brands but this one I have had to warm up to. It's a decent mandoline for the price and does work as stated just not to the level I expected...I may just give this one away and get a high-end brand.

I just got this but have used it for scalloped potatoes, cole slaw, and sliced onions for soup. Very uniform and adjustable for the different depth cuts. Easy to clean.

As OXO has so many good products, I ordered the madoline slicer online without looking for reviews. Unfortunately, it does not live up to expectations. The cutting blade is too dull to work with other than hard items such as potatoes. The holding tines on the handset do not penetrate food so the slicing is uneven and difficult. I am not satisfied.

Since the blade is straight across it tends to smash whatever you are slicing. My old V slicer worked a lot better for half the price. It seems to me that if they had put the blade on an angle the smashing problem would be eliminated.
