This item was purchased as a gift. We've had one for some years and really like the idea of making waffles without another hard to clean electric gadget.

Often, when we have guests we'll serve waffles and more than once it has led to someone searching for a waffler like ours. It seems they're not that easy to find.

This year someone on our Christmas list had been unsuccessfully looking for the waffler. It couldn't have turned out better--gift wrapped and shipped directly from Cooking.com!

Nordic Ware Changes

by David, CA
January 8, 2008

I have used two of the Nordic Ware waffle irons for over 20 years and have not been able to find a good replacement. I considered getting electric irons but none of them seem to come with a descent recommendation from users.

I just purchased two more Nordic Ware irons to replace my well worn older ones. They are pretty much the same except for one very big change. My original irons had a temperature gauge where the handle meets the actual iron - the new ones do not. The gauge lets you know the temperature of the irons and when they were ready for cooking your waffle. Now I will have to guess when they are ready. This may seem insignificant to those who have not used the iron but it is easy to overheat the irons and create a smokey atmosphere in your kitchen when they do overheat and the non-stick spray burns. I always use nonstick spray to avoid the waffle sticking.

I still highly recommend the irons but am very disappointed that this feature has been omitted.

Grand Opening ...

by William, MD
March 24, 2008

... To the world of Belgian waffles. Waffler comes complete with instructions and recipes. I would not worry about using this product, unless you lack common sense. (If you do not think about what you are doing, you can even have problems with electric waffle irons.) *** An interesting gift, I should think. It is fun to experiment with new recipes to craft the ultimate waffle. (You can still go with Aunt Jemima if you must.) *** Should you fail, you can always blame in on this old fashioned cooker. In any event, it is always a pleasure to eat your results. After all, nothing could be worse than frozen waffles, or more boring than always making them the same way.

Just takes a little getting used to..........

This is a great product...it is so much more versatile then an electric waffler- it allows you to make waffles even if you do not have electricity- say on top of the woodstove, camping, etc.
The product works really well and the instructions are very thorough. We love the belgian waffle recipe....the waffles turn out amazing.
Your first use will be your learning experience...but after that you will be set!

be careful heating

by Karen, NJ
November 25, 2009

This waffler turns out great waffles - tender on the inside, crispy on the outside- but it is a little difficult the first time figuring out the settings you need to use on the stove. I had the heat set too high, and burned the first waffle; it was then very difficult to clean, despite the use of cooking spray. But, it did come clean eventually and setting the temperature to medium and heating for the prescribed times worked well. As one other review said - use medium heat!! After that first mistake, all the rest of the waffles were good. I'm thinking this will be good to take to the shore for our beach vacation - easy to pack (unlike an electric waffler) and easy to use with whatever stove is in the beach house we rent.

Needed a non-electrical waffle maker

by Stacey, CO
July 27, 2008

We wanted a non-electrical waffle maker. We're temporarily overseas where they don't understand waffles. You can't find waffles at any of the restaurants for breakfast. The only waffle maker I found here made little tiny heart shaped waffles, and we like big waffles. My family recommended this one. I've made several of the recipes from the ones included on the box (our favorite to date is the Belgian waffle recipe without yeast), plus a few of my own. It works well, except you still do need to grease/oil in-between each waffle despite the non-stick coating. Also, being a stove stop waffle maker you have to flip the waffle maker and learn your own stove. It does heat evenly and is good for what it is. However, I still prefer my electrical belgian waffle maker back in the US.

Stovetop Waffle Maker

by katharine, AZ

I am very, very pleased with my nonstick stove top Belgian waffler. It is heavy but not too heavy to handle when flipping over. The nonstick finish works great. I've been using a waffle mix so far and the waffles come out just perfect! I highly recommend this waffler!

At last, I found it!

We got one of these in 1980 as a wedding present, and used it all the time. It's easy to use and clean. Alas, I loaned it to someone and never got it back. I've been looking for this for years! I'm thrilled to have found it again!

Waffler

by Harry, NY
November 5, 2009

Waffler is well made and instructions are clear. Kind of a novelty item though. Takes a while to heat up on the stove, and the setting used needs to be higher than the manufacturer recommends. It also takes a bit of practice to get the right amount of batter to fill the entire grate and get a complete waffle (over the recommended cup of batter). The waffles do come out light and fairly crispy once you get the hang of it. I'd call it a rather expensive toy rather than a everyday tool.

I haven't actually used the product yet because it's a Christmas present, but my father-in-law uses the same kind of waffle iron and I know he loves it. The product looks brand-new and I'm very excited to use it.

I have been looking for this stove top waffle iron for years. I've been using the previous model for 15 years and wanted to be able to have two irons going when we have company. This iron makes the best waffles ever, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I do miss the temperature indicator on the older model. Remember to use vegetable spray with each waffle.

While the idea of a non-electric waffle iron is intriguing, it just doesn't work as well as an electric. If I use a waffe recipe with yeast, I do get very good results. But most times, I don't have the time for that.

Very nice product

I use this product at our cabin where there is no electricity. It sits on the stove burner and makes great waffles. I wish it had a clamp to hold the two handles together, but other than that works great.

Good waffler

by Dan, CO
November 28, 2007

It's nice and heavy, so heats evenly. If sprayed with Pam, the non-stick surface really works. Be sure to use it on medium heat -- no higher -- and take your time. Really fun to use.
