Nice kettle with some quirks

This is my second electric teakettle by Krups (the other one is still hard at work at our other house). These kettles seem to last forever. It heats water quickly. On both this and the older model I have, I have a few minor complaint. First, the lid is very difficult to get on and off. Sometimes I get so frustrated with it that I just fill the kettle through the spout. This item is NOT to be recommended for anyone with arthritis or other conditions that might make it difficult for them to grab firmly. Because the lid is also fully separable from the kettle, some guests have also managed to misplace the lid. I much prefer kettles that have a flip top. Second, I wish the kettle had a decent indicator to let you know when it's reached a boil. Finally, this kettle is quite loud (as are many other kettles, in my experience). I can't talk on the phone in the kitchen when this device is on. In spite of these quirks, this kettle (and its stainless steel brethren) is very reliable, has a large capacity, and is quite attractive.

I have had many kettles, and this one is excellent, possibly the best I have ever owned. It has replaced a Cuisinart one, which was nowhere near as good.
It heats up very quickly indeed, pours beautifully, has a great window so you can see how much water is inside, best of all it doesn't give off a lot of steam when boiling due to a special mechanisms that closes off the spout. These electric kettles are so much more efficient than the stove top varieties. It is also a great looking kettle. I will also be buying another one of these for a gift at Christmas. I would highly recommend this kettle.
