I owned 2 other pepper mills before I bought this one due to a recommendation by America's Test Kitchen. It is everything they said it was. It leaves every other pepper mill I own in the dust. Love it!!

This is a fantastic pepper mill, easy to use, easy to fill and easy to clean.
This is a great pepper mill - there is a design flaw in the loading hatch (on the side where your hand rests) that can cause it to open and peppercorns to fly everywhere. Which is frustrating on two levels - one it's a mess and a pain - two you feel pretty dumb when it happens.
But holy mother does this thing work. It's a tad pricey and has none of the food geek plusses of great semi-traditionalist design but this thing grinds high volume with little effort and just is a total pleasure to use (if you don't spray peppercorns all over everything). One crank equals 6 or 7 from my old very pretty stainless steel thing. The mill is slightly over priced but well worth it. I use this more than any peppermill I have owned simply because you get a good easy result every time that you can count on.
Best working pepper mill I have ever used!! Holds lots of pepper corns, adjusts easily, produces huge amounts of fresh ground pepper!!!!

Moreover, the storage container is huge and extremly easy to fill, just turn the mill on its side, twist to open the storage compartment, and fill.

I have wanted one since reading Gear for Your Kitchen by Alton Brown, and boy does it live up to the hype. This thing is consistent, doesn't hang up on peppercorns, easy to load and clean, and throws out so much pepper it feels like it continues after you stop turning it. It can still squeek out a small amount, though, if that's what you need. Very glad I got it.

Grinder is easy to load, holds lots of peppercorns, and can turn out a huge pile of pepper in no time. Grind is easy to adjust via a small screw in the base. This is a serious, hard-working peppermill.

I've used other brands and thought Peugeot had the best mechanism and grind quality, but they always fell short on output. The Magnum Plus has great grind quality, easy grind size adjustment that stays even, and really puts out at least twice as much pepper per turn thanks to its extra large grinding mechanism. It is easy to clean and with its large, black plastic body its more a cooking tool than a dinner table accessory, so if you use a pepper mill at the table, you may want to have a fancier-looking one just for that.

milled pepper. It is so easy to adjust and has so many
positions! It is splendid! While very well syled, it may
not be the trendiest, but for those interstested in best results, this is the one!
I find it stunning how many poor-grinding pepper mills there are in today's market., This includes many that are FAR more expensive!
This Unicorn Magnum's grinder deserves every bit of the adulation it regularly receives. With ease and no fuss it produces the varying grinds an excellent pepper mill should.
Long use has shown this to be a purchase I'll never regret.
After buying a few different kinds of mills I decided to try this one because the others were so inefficient (and hard on my arthritic hand). These mills are great and it only takes 1 - 2 turns to get more than enough pepper! I bought 2 and am very glad I did. My other ones are going into the garage sale box!

My previous experience with pepper grinders has been limited & not very favorable, so I decided to try this one since it was highly recommended by Cooks Illustrated. It is a bit difficult for me to turn, so I found that if I back turn just a bit & then start grinding it becomes easier. I read that some people have trouble with the peppercorns falling out since the fill door turns the same way as grinding the pepper. Yes, that could happen, but I have never had that problem. Just be careful. The ground pepper comes out so rapidly that you don't need to turn much to get all you want, & it tastes so much better than previously ground pepper. My only suggestion would be to have numbers printed on the adjustment so that you could change settings & always know where to set it for each grind that you desire.

Other peppermills, I had already given up on. After reading in forums about different ones, I decided to give this one a try. It is a little pricey but well worth it if it works correctly. So far, it has been fine. It takes very little effort to use and easy to fill. I would recommend this one.

but best operating.
a practical compromise from the more decorative and expensive peppermills and what does the job with ease because of the side load feature and the adjustable grind..

I will admit, I had high hopes for this grinder. When it showed up I was initially disappointed. I was surprised to find out that it was plastic. I was originally shopping for some expensive cookware. Buying this was done with an
Love the prolific output of this device. I bought it on Cooks Illustrated's recommendation and am not disappointed.
2 of 3 users found this helpful. Was it helpful to you? Yes | No Report Violation »This is an excellent pepper mill with easy to change grind settings. The only minor drawback is that placing the pepper into the mill involves making a funnel out of paper or use of a regular funnel to put the pepper into the mill. However, this minor drawback is offset by its excellent operation.

2 of 3 users found this helpful. Was it helpful to you? Yes | No Report Violation »Fresh cracked pepper is just fine on salads, meats, mac and cheese and the list goes on. But does your pepper grinder issue a small quantities of dark dust rather than a good sprinkle of tasty little pieces of pepper? Is it smooth to turn in order to work?
