Many of our authorities thought this 9" tall, contemporary black pepper mill was top notch- it met all our criteria: a comfortable grip, a grind that is easily adjustable, and a nut at the base that is independent of the loading ring in the mill's body--so there's no need to reset the grind after refilling. It holds over a cup of peppercorns that are easily added through the large hole on the side of the mill, and works very fast & efficiently, according to Cook's Illustrated, who includes it in their "Best" category. The grinding mechanism has nickel-plated heads that will maintain their cutting edges and won't rust. The Magnum Plus has a lifetime guarantee. Not battery-operated.

  • Cleaning & Care: Wipe with damp cloth and dry thoroughly
  • Dimensions: 9-in.
  • Material: ABS plastic body with nickel plated steel mill
  • Origin: USA
  • MOST HELPFUL REVIEWS

  • This is the best pepper mill I have used so far. I was looking to get either a Perfex or Peugeot pepper mill, but found through internet reviews that many restaurants are using this one with excellent results. The grinding mechanism is made in Italy and only a few effortless turns are needed to produce significant amount fresh ground pepper. I use this pepper mill almost everyday for everything from eggs to salads.

    I recommend this product.

  • This will be the very LAST peppermill that you ever have to buy! I bought this one for a gift; my original magnum is over 12 years old and still grinds to perfection - course or fine!

  • Purchased it because of America's Test Kitchen recommendation. It works! Purchased 2 more as gifts. Common consensus among friends is that most peppermills don't work. A little pricey.

  • Grinds great

I chose this based on reviews in Cooks Illustrated and Cuisine at Home. I love it, you can change from a fine to coarse grind and it holds a lot of pepper. Definitely worth the money.

  • If you live with someone who appreciates pepper, this is the mill for you. It grinds so well, it's fun to get carried away. We had another manual mill, which we have ground for years, filling its tiny bin carefully, periodically losing the silver nut which kept its grinding mechanism together. Technology has really improved the fresh pepper experience. My only wish was to have it in silver versus its practical black plastic, but hey, I'll take functionality over looks any day.

  • Large capacity. Adjusts to give me any size grind I want. Only drawback is it was a little hard to turn at first. Not good for someone with arthritis. Seems to be getting easier, though, as I use it.

  • This is a fabulous pepper mill. I also ordered after reading about it in Cook's Illustrated. Tons of pepper and it easily changes from coarse to fine. My only gripe is I have to use a funnel to get the peppercorns in. But since it holds a lot, it's not that often!

  • Almost perfect

I've gone through 3 pepper grinders that were the most expensive ones sold at Walmart or Target. All of those looked good, but never seemed to work properly, made obnoxious squeaking noises or broke after a year.

I will admit, I had high hopes for this grinder. When it showed up I was initially disappointed. I was surprised to find out that it was plastic. I was originally shopping for some expensive cookware. Buying this was done with an

  • This is a serious pepper mill, and it does a really good job: even a single turn makes a lot of pepper. The unit seems well-made, but also rather expensive. Time will tell whether the grinding gears hold up.

I am very pleased that I purchased the Magnum Pepper Mill. I had read the reviews but was reluctant to pay $39.00 for a pepper mill. My mistake. This is the last pepper mill I will ever buy.

  • Overall this is a very good pepper mill. The ability to change the size of the grind is a great feature. You must be careful to twist correctly or the fill opening will open and you will end up with peppercorns all over your work space.

  • A peppermill that REALLY works!

I gave up on the rabbit ear peppermills when the last one broke after a very short time. Other peppermills, I had already given up on. After reading in forums about different ones, I decided to give this one a try. It is a little pricey but well worth it if it works correctly. So far, it has been fine. It takes very little effort to use and easy to fill. I would recommend this one.

  • My previous experience with pepper grinders has been limited & not very favorable, so I decided to try this one since it was highly recommended by Cooks Illustrated. It is a bit difficult for me to turn, so I found that if I back turn just a bit & then start grinding it becomes easier. I read that some people have trouble with the peppercorns falling out since the fill door turns the same way as grinding the pepper. Yes, that could happen, but I have never had that problem. Just be careful. The ground pepper comes out so rapidly that you don't need to turn much to get all you want, & it tastes so much better than previously ground pepper. My only suggestion would be to have numbers printed on the adjustment so that you could change settings & always know where to set it for each grind that you desire.

  • This pepper mill produces! I really like the fact that adding pepper to the hopper doesn't alter the coarseness of the grind. It produces an amazing amount of ground pepper with every turn. My only concern is the location of the opening for adding pepper; I have large hands and find that if I'm not careful I may accidentally open it.
