Use this Lodge 6-qt. Enamel Round Dutch Oven to prepare slow-cooked savory meals. Its generous size allows you to braise larger cuts of meat and serve family-size batches of your favorite soups, casseroles and stews. The porcelain enamel-coated cast iron provides you with a durable piece of cookware that doesn't need to be seasoned before you use it for the first time, and the nonreactive surface makes this Dutch oven ideal for people who love making hearty chili and scrumptious tomato bisque. Safe for use on the stovetop or oven, this piece gives you the flexibility you need to take your dishes from the burner to the oven without transferring ingredients to a different cooking vessel. Of course, durability and versatility aren't the only benefits of this Dutch oven. Its brilliant blue color and eye-catching design make it a wonderful piece to serve your dishes out of. All you need is a trivet to convert your Dutch oven from a hard-working piece of cookware to a stunning piece of serveware. We love how easy it is to make a wide range of dishes in this beautiful yet sturdy Dutch oven.
Best Used For:
Use your new Dutch oven to make beautifully braised lamb and short ribs, hearty winter stews or your favorite soups. It can also be used for a one-pot clam bake or a classic coq au vin. This piece is ideal for virtually any dish that needs to be cooked slowly for the full flavor profile to develop.
This item not American made as it appears, made in China. Very disappointed this fact not clear on this website. I returned the product. We have no confidence that there is no lead in Chinese made products.
Excellent dutch oven. I have a Le Creuset dutch oven that was a gift and for me the results are the same excellent. And by the way if you look at alot of chefs cast iron cookware it is made in China too. Rachael Ray etc.
Not only in this dutch oven lovely, it makes the best bread I have ever had. The dutch oven traps all of the steam and creates a perfect crust. Frankly, we just couldn't afford a Le Creuset dutch oven, and this was one was recommended by Cook's Illustrated (couldn't bring myself to buy the other dutch oven they recommended, as it was only available from Wal-Mart)...
Anyway, we are really enjoying this product. Definitely do not put it in the oven at greater than 450 as the handle top will crack. This heat limitation would be the only limiting factor for this product, but we have just adjusted our cooking regime for the bread--really, for the price, aesthetic value and products that come out of this dutch oven, I don't mind the temperature limitation at all!
I am mostly satisfied with this dutch oven, especially for the price paid. I would have preferred that it be a self-basting oven, have flat sides instead of rounded, and be actually made by Lodge in Tennessee instead of China. Perhaps I could get most or some of those things with more cash outlay.
