Celebrate 100 years of home canning with the limited edition Ball® 6-pc. Blue Heritage Collection Pint Jar Set. Inspired by the original Ball mason jars, which were first created in 1913 to let home cooks can and preserve foods at home, the period-correct blue-tinted jars in this set have a vintage look that makes modern canning enthusiasts feel they are part of an unbroken tradition spanning back decades. The Ball company logo and the "Perfect Mason" logo used on the original 1913 jars are both embossed on the front of each jar in this set, and the backs feature embossed text commemorating the 100-year history of mason jars. This pack includes six jars with matching lids, and they can be used with modern canning kits and accessories to preserve a wide variety of foods for future use. The jars meet modern safety and performance standards, and they hold up to 1 pint of canned food when filled, so it's easy to make canned peaches, strawberry jam, pickles and canned crushed tomatoes to fill your pantry. A vintage-style tray carton keeps the jars organized until you're ready to use them. This Blue Heritage Collection set of jars is the first in a series of limited-edition mason jar sets to be released by Ball, so you can save them as collector's items.
Best Used For:
Canning fruits, vegetables and meats. Remember to sterilize canning jars before use, and follow safe canning procedures to prevent contamination of canned goods.
I love my new blue colored Ball pint jars, the color is gorgeous and goes great with the color scheme in my kitchen. Going to use them as spice jars, because I think they would be prettier sitting on the shelf than the jars the spices come in at the store.
the jars are very nice, I went on the web site when I saw the jars, I was actually looking for the Mug drinking jars in blue that have the handle, they are such a big seller one company has them in the blue but I think they are over priced....13.00 for just one,,,,so I opted for yours, I wanted them for drinking glasses....If you ever decide to go with the handle mugs in blue I will be your first customer....thx.
Thank you to the Ball company for manufacturing and selling these blue, heritage mason jars. The ordering process on Fresh Preserving Store was very simple, and the coupon I got in my inbox afterwards tempted me to go back for more!
I grew up on a dairy farm and was exposed to canning by my grandmother, mother and her 5 sisters and all of my aunts from my dads side of the family. I have always loved the mason jar. When I came across the blue ones I was thrilled. They are so pretty. My daughter wants a set too. Thank you for making these available.
These little jars are absolutely adorable - I bought them to use as glassware for my casual table settings - but my husband promptly absconded with them to use in his canning world. Oh well, I will definately have to reorder!
Of course I would have liked the same purchase price to be for 12 jars, not 6 jars.
I know that you are probably trying to hold down prices, but I have to go hunting for boxes that fit my jars I buy, because the boxes you are now putting your jars into do not have tops like regular boxes. I cut down boxes that paper comes in and have to make my own inserts for quarts and pints, and find boxes that fit 8 oz and 4 oz jars. Boxes with lids are easier to stack and less breakage. I have canned for 30 years + or -, and still have to buy some jars. Your new blue jars are very nice!
These blue jars really take me back to my childhood. I am 75 years old and yet I vividly recall early, happy memories of my Mother and her older sister and nieces combining their efforts in my aunt's big kitchen..."putting up" jars of vegetables from their big garden. Mostly quarts of tomatoes, corn, "string" beans, pickled cukes...and on and on. Some of the jars were blue like these blue pints; I'm guessing the lids were something like zinc...kind of grayish. I was four, five and six and well remember the light-hearted banter among the women (their men were all gone to war in Europe, but they kept each others spirits up). Lots of laughing. An annual ritual that quite realistically demonstrated our family's thrifty lifestyle, sometimes these canning sessions lasted several days, or even a week. It's a wonderful memory! I can't wait to fill these jars myself as gifts for my large family. Pints for jam or jelly. Yum...
I needed these Blue jars to go with the Blue Ball Jars I have with the glass lids with a rubber ring for a seal from 4 generations ago..They sit on top of my refrig with dry beans and macaroni in them I have several blue ones and 2 clear ones...Both Pints and Quarts...
I discovered I could have purchased the same blue Ball jars locally (6-pc set) for $8.95. So with shipping my order came to more than twice that amount. I had looked for them at a couple of stores but was not able to find them. I decided to order them because I didn't think I would find them. Then shortly after my order came, I discovered them in two different stores locally. They are still sitting in the box as I haven't been well enough to use them.
