The Nova pattern by Sango recalls artisan pottery with its simple shapes and earth-toned, rich glazed effects. Ruddy browns fade into softer tans forming an unusual palette with unexpected variety. Bowls hold 16 ounces and are 5-in. diameter x 3-in. high.

These bowls are so big they are more like soup tureens. When I make french onion soup I like to put the cheese on top and have it brown and drip over the sides. If you don't fill the soup to the top then the cheese just falls in and melts in a big clump on the bottom. So now I use these for other kinds of soup and fill them halfway but for onion soup I still need to find smaller crocks that I can use in the oven for my french onion soup.

I like the bowls, however, they should be oven safe to put under the broiler e.g.; to melt cheese on top of French Onion Soup.

These bowls are adorable! But, they make a HUGE bowl of soup. Use these for your entree - not an appetizer.

I currently live overseas, and I had read a couple of reviews saying that these had arrived broken, so I was a little nervous about that. However, they arrived in perfect condition. I also ordered the salad plates, which were also in perfect condition, and they make a beautiful setting. I am going to order the entire set, as I am very pleased with the beautiful marble-like coloring. I would definitely recommend these items.

After looking at many options, I was delighted to find the Sango bowls. They have a classic appearance, a nice heft, and workable handle. They actually looked even better than I expected, when I saw them in person. Classy, and will go with any number of tablescapes.

After I received the items I noticed they were not oven proof. Dishwasher and microwave but not oven. How can you possibly use a french onion soup bowl and not put it in the oven!!!!!

The Sango soup bowl is great. They keep the soup warm, are stackable,and attractive.The one thing I wish they had is a heavier handle.

I appreciated the fact that I could pay for these via check and they were delivered quickly to my daughter-in-law: However, one of the bowls was broken in delivery. I contacted your company immediately and we agreed on just a replacement of the one broken bowl. Then I got an e-mail that said that they were out of stock, I would be informed when stock was replenished and delivery would be made.
Original payment was sent 10/31/08 - shipment received 11/11/08 - contact made 11/13/08 about breakage and out of stock - have not heard anything since then. Is there an update on this problem??? thanks for looking and reading and will await you prompt answer. marje gillies

These French Onion Soup Bowls are just a bit bigger than bowls I've had in the past, allowing all the recipe to be placed into the bowls without losing any. Arrived in great condition and easy to clean up.

These are nice bowls. You cannot use them in the oven which is a bummer. One of the bowls was broken so I'll need to have that replaced but they are a nice addition to my dish set.

Similar to another reviewer, two of the four soup bowls arrived with broken handles. They were on the top layer and had no wrapping protection around the handles. I called Cooking.com and they said that I did not have to return any of the product and they would immediately request the supplier send me a new box of four soup bowls. Cooking.com was very responsive and could not have given me better customer service. My bowls arrived in just a few day and they were VERY well wrapped and all were intact. I am very pleased with the customer service at Cooking.com and when I need a product they sell again, I will definitely order from them. The soup bowls are a very good quality for the money.
