This model from Taylor meets our criteria for a deep-fat thermometer: clear markings measure from 100F to 400F, its 12 1/2" long, stainless-steel frame is sturdy and features a metal clip that will hold the thermometer safely to the side of your pan up to one inch thick. Also, works well for candymaking, featuring markings for thread, soft ball, hard ball, soft crack and hard crack stages.

The moment the thermometer was placed in the hot oil it burst open and all the mercury came out into my pot!

The black lettering printed on the thermometer indicating the temperature all wore off after only two uses. We can no longer use it.

The mercury buld sits above the bottom of the pan, this lets the thermometer give one kthe REAL temp as opposed to reading the bottom of the pan.
Then Temp guage is clear with markings that show the stage of cooking . Ie: soft, hard stage of sugar. A way of warning before the temp causes disaster. Very NICE!
Good cost for a good product!

Very sturdy & heavy duty thermometer! Works quick & efficently to show you the temp of your foods so that you can control the level in which you want to cook them at so you dont over cook! It has a lovely little clip on the back so it clips on to anything pot or fryer!! Very nice!!!

This thermometer is great and easy to use. I love the detail information such as candy hard, etc. Plus the clip that allows me to put it on the side of the pan is excellent.
