It would be too expensive to return it so I just use it as a chopping board and for cutting eggs. The wood is pretty but the slicer doesn't work properly.
we own this cheese slicer, so were familiar with it. we ordered 4 as gifts as we could not locate them locally. while the price was good compared to Target online; the shipping charges made the pricing the same. The difference was that Target's web site/customer service was terrible, your website was easy to use. so, we have had a favorable experience.

When I opened the slicer, the wire was not lined up with the cutting slit in the wood. I read other reviews saying this was a problem, but it is adjustable. I thought the wire and handle were bent, but there was an instruction sheet included showing how to "re-align" the wires (as this occurs during shipping). I re-aligned the wire and I had perfectly sliced soft mozzarella (thin, even slices too - try that with a knife!).
I hand washed this and it was easy to clean.
I have not tried this on hard cheese yet, but I think it will do the job just fine.
This cheese slicer is not only functional, but it's great looking. You can leave it on your counter top when you're not using it just too look at. This was a gift for my daughter and all of her friends wanted to know where I got it because they all wanted one. Great Product!!!!
