The first thing I made with this was pesto and I slightly stained the inside. However, I did not wash out the mortar prior to use as was instructed, so perhaps that is why.

Perfect size

I am so pleased I finally put the effort into getting a mortar and pestle. This is a beautiful and useful product. It has made my life so much easier.. it use to take me forever to get herbs and grains crushed.. this takes care of things in no time at all.. I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!

Perfect Mortar and Pestle!

I shopped around everywhere looking for a medium size mortar and pestle that could handle up to around 6 egg shells for crushing at a time (for my compost...)and also crushing my dried herbs. I almost ended up settling for one that was OK, but not great, but cost around $100 at Williams and Sonoma so I decided against it. But then I went home, did an internet search and found this mortar and pestle. It was EXACTLY what I needed and is the PERFECT size - I couldn't be happier. The beautiful, rich red color looks so lovely on my countertop that I keep it out all the time. So glad to have found this - the ideal solution in every way for my needs in the kitchen. 20-oz. Mortar and Pestle

This product is exactly as pictured and described on your website. I purchased it primarily because a mortar and pestle was recommended in the book "The Complete America's Test Kitchen", and am not sorry. I was all set to use it in preparation for an herb spread - - - and then realized a key (fresh) ingredient was missing. The pretty Cherry Red is still sitting on my kitchen sink receiving complements, as well as me, for appearing to be a person who always has the right (fresh) ingredients at the ready.

I'm sure it's going to be fun to use.
