From lemonade to key lime pie, recipes that require a bit of citrus juice are easier to make when you've got the KitchenAid Citrus Juicer Attachment. This handy attachment hooks securely onto the front of your KitchenAid stand mixer, and it isn't difficult complicated to get on or remove. Simply turn on the mixer, gently place your halved piece of citrus against the twisting reamer and let your mixer do all the work. You can twist the citrus fruit slightly to make sure all of the juice gets out. By holding the fruit between your fingers instead of with your palm underneath, you can avoid having juice drip down your arm during the process. During the juicing process, the seeds and pulp are captured by the strainer, leaving you with pure, fresh juice. You can juice anything from tiny baby mandarin oranges to large grapefruits using this accessory, so you can prepare fresh juice to drink in the morning or get an instant splash of citrus flavor that you can add to Thai cuisine, Southwestern-style fajitas or a Brazilian ceviche. This juicer attachment also comes in handy when you're faced with a lemon or orange tree in full harvest and a need to juice all of the fruit before it goes bad. With this accessory, you don't need to have a separate stand-alone juicer, so it saves you money and counter space. The drip spout drops the juice directly into a glass or bowl placed underneath, which lets you use it right away. The juicer should be hand washed after use, and it comes with a 1-year warranty.
This was purchased as a gift (for my daughter in law). I've had mine for about 10 years now, and use it on a weekly basis--limited counterspace prevents me from buying a dedicated juicer and frankly, I don't feel I need one.
Though a little costly for a piece of plastic, since it is an accessory to the wonderful Kitchen Aid stand mixer, I guess that's to be expected. It is easy to use and performs well, so I am satisfied with the purchase.
The attachment works very well. It's easy to attach and easy to wash. The only criticism is that the reamer is too pointed so in juicing an orange, it digs into middle of the orange and the sides have to be maneuvered to get all the juice. It would have been better if it was rounder. Not a big deal.
I bought this juicer with a gift certificate I received and am very pleased with it. It gets more juice out of an ordange than I ever was able to with my hand juicer. My only complaint is that it's a little pricey but so far I am happy with the quality, durability and performance.
I had been using a hand juicer I had inherited from my grandmother. It works but I always felt that I could get more juice from the fruit if I had a mechanical juicer. I was correct. This attachment is great! It's very easy to attach to my mixer, the strainer is very effective and the parts are dishwasher safe. Grandma's glass juicer has been retired.
I think it is awkward to use. The strainer caught the pulp but then the juice could not penetrate the pulp. Pushing the fruit horizontally was, again, awkward. I found a countertop juicer on sale for less and love it. I am debating whether to spend the $ to ship it back or just give it to someone else and see if they like it any better.
I got tired of the old fashion hand twist contraption for juicing my citrus for cooking. Looked on-line for the Kitchen Aid attachment & cookin.com had the least expensive one. Attaching, detaching and clean up all a breeze and it juices well too. Couldn't be happier.
My husband used the juicer only once and it was a little difficult to get the juice out, but he finally was able to get enough juice out of the oranges to fill a glass. Once he got started he figured out how to hold the orange in order to get better results. It wasn't as sturdy as it should have been, and we were both surprised that Kitchenaid would present something that was not as sturdy as it should have been.
This product is everything I need. Much easier than the reamer I was using to hand juice. Attaches easily to the mixer and cleans up nicely. It can be a little messy but I don't mind; it seems to depend on what speed you put the mixer on. I am perfectly happy with this product.
The good: It works -- it will juice from a lime up to a grapefruit. It is easy to clean.
The not-so-good: It's messy. The juice gets all over your 'holding' hand The strainer clogs up within seconds with the pulp; you are better off removing the strainer and straining the juice after you are done. The juice doesn't exactly flow neatly down the spout; it tends to splash some so you need something much wider than a glass under the spout to catch the liquid.
It takes some hand / finger strength to hold the fruit up against the center cone long enough to get the juice out. I wouldn't want to do more than a few lemons/limes at a time.
I bought this juicer thinking it would save me time. I squeeze 25 lemons a week to make homade lemonade. I would rather spend the time squeezing them by hand than using this juicer. I didnt get near the amount of juice i should have out of the lemons. It took me using 32 lemons i think to get the same amount of lemon juice i get when i squeeze by hand. dont waste your money.
This has been a great addition to an already very useful appliance. I needed to replace ana aging juice extractor so when I found this piece, I decided it would be worth a try to use an appliane I already owned.
I love it! It works very well and the vertical, front-mounted design is a plus. Plcae a glass underneath and voila!, fresh juice in jiffy and cleanup is a non-event.
Juice extractor works well. This is very helpful for some folks with arthritis. It is easy to manage the fruit and I can extract lemons and oranges particularly well, so far. I have not used it for anything else as yet.
