Tried the 475 watt KitchenAid and it was loud, with a very high pitched sound, especially on low speed. This 425 watt mixer is not so loud and seems to have the same power as the higher wattage mixer.

Excellent workhorse at a competitive price!

After using assorted brands of noisy and sluggish stand mixers in the past, this 5 qt. Pro is unbelievable in performance. Because the mixer is definitely a powerhouse, I found that you do have to adjust the motor speeds, contrary to the manual's recommendations. On some preps (such as beating egg whites) you have to carefully monitor the progress -- even with cream of tartar added to help prevent over-beating. The added grinder/puree accessory package we ordered from you additionally enhances its use. Cleanup is a breeze for mixer and attachments and the mixer's appearance adds much class to our newly-remodeled kitchen. After all, why cover it up when it is used so often? Thanks for a great product and purchase price for this website order.

I have only owned and used hand mixers before I bought this for myself as a Mother's Day gift. I had to get used to not having to hold anything in my hand and the speeds memorized to avoid overmixing my cake batters, but WOW!!! This mixer makes life SO much easier for the frequent baker. It's one of the smartest purchases that I've made. An excellent product!

I hated it and I am returning it.
* I tried it with egg whites and it took 3+ times as long to beat the egg whites to stiff peaks, and they really were an unacceptable texture.
*I did not realize that I could not use it with my regular metal bowls, and therefore was confined to only as many special KitchenAid bowls as I was willing to purchase.
*It is huge, taking up a lot of space on the counter, and it is too heavy to store in a cabinet or drawer and keep lifting.
*After observing it in the kitchens of a couple of friends, I conclude that it is largely an ornament for prestigious display, since they don't cook.

Poor Engineering

by James, MA
November 14, 2008

I waited until I had used this mixer for several months before rating it.

When the unit is in use, the lift bowl mechanism deflects much more than I like. I foresee these pieces breaking in the future, and for almost four hundred bucks this should not be the case. Therefore, I rate it low because of poor design and engineering by KitchenAid.

Love my new KitchenAid Mixer. My last one finally gave up while I was making my Christmas cookies this year... it was 28 years old! We shopped around and it seems that we again got the best price from Cooking.com., quick shipping too!

This is the first stand mixer my husband, who is the baker at our house, has had. He loves the dough making capabilities of his new "machine," and is now mixing cookie batter. He is trying his mixer with each new recipe he can find, and gives it a superlative rating.

Actually, I won the cooking.com $500.00 gift certificate and bought this!! Thank You Cooking.com! I was looking for a stand mixer and was going to purchase one as a Mothers Day present to myself even before winning the Gift Certificate (odd, but perfect timing). I have wanted a stand mixer for years, and after a lot of research and reading many reviews I decided on this stand mixer. I could not be happier. Not kneading bread by hand is a wonderful change, and baking cakes became faster because it takes less mixing time. I wish cookin.com carried extra bowls for this model on there web site. I like to bake items with meringe, it would be great to have an extra bowl. Customer Service helped me with that and told me where to find one.

I've wanted one of these mixers for ages, and finally got around to ordering one. It is fantastic - very efficient, and I love the blue color. Now I will splurge on all the attachments!

Although yellow is my favorite color, after reading the reviews about the artisan line of mixers, I decided to go with the 5 series and that was a great move on my part. The mixer is fantastic, I've already cranked out loaves of bread and dozens and dozens of cookies. It makes baking sooooo easy it kinda feels like i'm cheating now!

I've always wanted a mixer. I chose this model because it's got higher wattage. I've made cakes, cookies, and pasta so far.

Worth the money. I do wish it had a splash guard though.

Kitchen Aid has always given me good service and their equipment is top of the line .
I am very happy with my purchase and dont mind recommending this product to anyone.
As a rule i don't generally endorse any products but this one stands far above any other mixers I have tried and it deserves the recognition.

I already own a KitchenAid Stand Mixer and I purchased this mixer as a wedding gift. I am extremely happy with my KitchenAid Mixer; love all the attachments you can get for it. Nothing like fresh ice cream or frozen yogurt, within minutes.

I love this mixer...I was disappointed it did not come with the spatter shield though. I thought all of them came with the shield.

I really love my new mixer. It was a replacement for a 300W KitchenAid that I had for twenty years. My family loves my homemade pizza so that was the recipe I used to break in my new mixer. The wider bowl made adding ingredients a lot easier and the more powerful motor made things go even faster than before. I highly recommend reading the instructions before using the appliance because there is a lot of useful information about changes that have been made to the appliance.

We've had this mixer for less than a month and are very pleased with it. We used some of the recipes in the book that came with the mixer and so far we have been very satisfied. We made french bread, rolls, and cookies. The KitchenAid mixer is replacing our very old Oster mixer. Bread dough is ready in less than half the time it took our old unit even when it was new. We made two fruit cakes and with all the heavy ingredients that go into them the KitchenAid kept mixing as if it was mixing eggs. Our mixer has found a home and we are very pleased with it.
