Most candy thermometers I have used, were troublesome in that they positioned themselves either against the bottom of the pan, or against the side, thereby giving a false thermometer reading. This slanted thermometer is ideal and foolproof.

The thermometer works fine but the clip designed to hold it on the side of the pan doesn't perform at all as designed. The clip is too weak to firmly hold the device and it easily slips and/or falls off any of the several pans i have tried to use it on. Extremely poor frunction from something that you'd think would be easy to fix.

I'm using this candy thermometer to monitor temperature in a smoker. I tweeked the metal clip to fit the top vent hole in the smoker. Seems to be working well

I found the flat thermometer easy to use and read. No bending down to look over the hot pan. The adjustable clip is coated to prevent slippage. I think this may become my favorite
