You asked for a blender with exceptional versatility that uses very little space, and our reply is the KitchenAid ® 5-speed Silver Contour Immersion Blender with interchangeable blades. With one touch power, it's simple to use, just push and hold then release when done. Removable guards allow you to swap blades without the use of tools as well as prevent the blades from scratching your cookware, so you can use the hand immersion blender directly in compatible pots. The DC motor at one end of the removable 8-inch arm provides plenty of quiet blending action and the 5-foot cord is long enough to accommodate your work area. Surrounding the contour silver five-speed hand blender motor is a soft handle with a grip that is both nonslip and comfortable to use for an extended amount of time

I like the minimal cleanup and the reliability. My last China made blender worked well the first time and then broke on the second. I would like to see the day when a company declares that it will not, under any cercumstances, sell anything that comes from China.
I purchased the imersion blender to replace my old Betty Crocker immersion blender that I have had for about 15 years. The reason I replaced it was that the Contour, allows the blades to be cleaned seperately from the motor and the old immersion blender was hard to clean. I have only used the new blender once, but it worked well. My only issue is that the sleek design makes it difficult to take the blades off the motor. If you have any problems with hand strength, this may make the product less desirable.
My KitchenAid immersion blender was my 'A very Merry Christmas with all my love from me to me" this year. Used for first time on Christmas day to make smoothies. They were excellent. Can't wait to try making soups. Cleanup is a snap and instructions for all the included attachments were clear. It is very powerful and for that reason it is a little heavy. That is the only reason I didn't give it a 5.

This is an excellent product. My order came quickly and we used it that evening. I do have nerve damage to my right arm that affects three of my fingers so I need AND depend on certain products. This is easier than scooping &/or pouring items into a blender, especially hot items. It also comes in a BEAUTIFUL and sturdy case that stores all of the items, except the bowls for chopping and blending. The case has individual compartments for each tool that keeps them in place. It is very sturdy. I first used this immersion blender to obtain a silky smooth vegetable cheddar cheese soup. The vegetables in the recipe cannot have chunks or bits and pieces since dumplings are added that are the star of the dish. Other immersion blenders have failed with this recipe and I always had to use my Vitamix blender and add a few cups at a time. This was time consuming, caused me to have to clean more appliances, and I had severe pain in my arm and hands the next day from overuse. I love my Vitamix blender and use it frequently but with this soup I also need my food processor so I don't want the extra clean up. This soup is a family favorite past down from my great grandmother. Any immersion blender gets tested with this recipe first. My husband and I were stunned as it pureed the vegetables in a fraction of the time than we were expecting. Excellent. I did notice on the box that this blender was supposed to come with two containers, one for chopping and the other for blending. They were not in the package. I called and it was immediately fixed without incident. I have used this for so many things like hummus, artichoke dip, whipping cream and eggs etc. Highly recommend.
I have always wanted one but thought they were too expensive until I found this one online. I absolutely love it and it came with a great recipe book with the instructions so I'm going to give some of those a try also. My 8 year old loved making smoothies with it.
I give the product a rating of 3, not because it's a bad product, but because I was disappointed. I have several Kitchen Aid products in my kitchen, I find them to be quite excellent. This hand blender appears to work as well as any other hand blender on the market. The fit and finish on the kitchen are high quality; the motor appears to be quite powerful, and I expect it will prove to be dependable and long-lasting.
I selected this model because it was on sale at Cooking.com, and I thought the extra attachments would prove useful. As stated above, the standard "S" blade appears to work just about the same as many other brands'; it does the job. I made a smoothie with it and it did chop up the bananas. But when I used the whisk attachment on a half pint of whipping cream, I was disappointed. In five minutes of constant beating, using the various speed settings, it failed to produce a smooth, thick peaks. I'll try it again and hope I discover the first attempt was due to operator error.
I haven't used the chopper attachment yet. I'm hoping my pico de gallo turns out better than my whipped cream.
