    • Disappointing experience

I recently ordered the new Elite Cuisinart food processor. It is a great, sleek machine with graduated food bowls for smaller quantities and a set of different blades and disks for different tasks. It is quiet when it runs and I really like the retractable cord as it keeps it out of the way for storage.

My big problem is with the shredding disk. It is a stupid design because it has two huge "finger holes" for easy removal from the machine. Unfortunately these two holes allow chunks of food to fall through into the bowl without being processed/shredded. There is no way to get these small chunks to shred as they continue to fall through the hole, as do small (baby carrots for example) vegetables. I tried taping the holes with scotch tape and it was not strong enough, so I may try duct tape next. I can't believe no one saw this problem when they were testing the machine prior to putting it on the market! It is ok to have the holes in the slicing disk because I think most things we slice are a bit larger and won't fall through, but the shredding disk needs to not have any holes except the shredding ones.

I really hope Cuisinart fixes this problem with subsequent disks. I have called and written online to Cuisinart about this, but have not been able to "fix" the problem. I am still seriously considering returning the machine. It is a shame because it has great potential, but the shredding disk is not useful and it is a feature I use a lot.

I don't think the current machine is worth the price as it does not deliver all the features as advertised. I would not have purchased this machine if I had seen it operate with the shredder.

    • Cuisinart Needs Design Help

The Elite Food Processor from Cuisinart is a classic case of a successful manufacturer losing touch with its customers. The bowl and lid have too many nooks and crannies, and are impossible to clean. The supposedly leak-proof lid and base allow bread dough to get up into the equally impossible-to-clean core of the bowl. The nesting bowls are simply a nuisance, a design idea that should have been dumped before production started. The huge machine, and the associated accessory box, take up much too much space.

This was, for me, an expensive failure. It cost me almost $50 to return by UPS to cooking.com, plus the $25 it cost when it was sent to me. So I'm out $75, and determined never to buy another appliance from cooking.com.

    • Best Updated Appliance

This machine is far superior than my 20 year old Cuisinart, although it served me well! The ease of using it is terrific! I like the idea of the 3 bowls. Now when I use the largest one for "cheesecake", it won't spillover...Thank you!
The only "down comment" that I must tell is that the plastic box that holds the blades etc, is just a litle too tight. Just a quarter of an inch would have helped, but I'm extremely careful with it.
It also has cost me a tidy sum for a "floating island" to match the decor of my kitchen as it is VERY heavy. I still love it, it's my new toy!!!

      I recommend this product.

    • The Most Versatile Food Processor Ever

I'm in my early 60's, married, retired, with children and grandchildren. I owned a 14-cup Cuisinart food processor that's roughly about 20 years old or more and still working as good as the day I bought it. I wanted to buy this model because of the features so I gave my previous one and all of its accessories to one of my grown sons who wanted it. The die cast metal motor housing and the 20 year warranty on the motor is what initially attracted me to this particular model. The 12-cup model only has a 10 year warranty on the motor and is why I ordered the 14-cup model instead of the 12-cup model. Upon its arrival here at our home on January 2, 2014, after unpacking the box, assembling the food processor, washing the pieces (except motor housing base) in the top rack of the dishwasher, reassembling it, then using it to make Cheesy Potatoes for supper with ham cubes, broccoli and shredded cheeses, most of which I made with my new Cuisinart Die Cast Elite Collection 14-Cup Food Processor, I realized just how many things that I can make with this in only a matter of minutes! I'm not easily impressed but I'm extremely impressed! I've used this food processor almost every day since then and have made numerous dishes in only minutes including: Cheesy Potatoes, White Bread, Wheat Bread, Carrot Cake, Cream Puff Cake, Individual Cheesecakes, Minestrone Soup, Potato Chips, Sweet Potato Chips, French Fries, Hash Brown Potatoes, Beef Stew, Coleslaw and Mayonnaise, all made entirely from scratch. My husband, who used to own a restaurant and is where he learned to cook, is extremely impressed by the results so I expect him to eventually get the courage to try this new food processor himself one of these days. If you're considering buying a new food processor, this is definitely the one to buy. It's pricey but worth every penny and no matter how many people are in your family, even single folks with no kids will love this food processor. There is always a need for all 3 work bowls! As long as you carefully follow the directions in the Owners Manual every time, you won't have any problems using this food processor whatsoever. It's a real time saver and makes every dish you make look as beautiful as they taste and your family and guests will really appreciate your effort as well!

      I recommend this product.

I just received my new food processor and have used it several times. I like the stacking bowl feature for compact storage and the case with the other attachments is very nice. I was able to chop veggies, blend a casserole filling and make bread crumbs easily and in short order. So far, I'm a happy camper!

      I recommend this product.

    • This food processor can do it all!

I like the fact that all the pieces are dishwasher safe. I like the fact that the motor is relatively quiet. I'm sure this food processor will get a lot of use in our kitchen.

      I recommend this product.

    • Versatility and capacity

This is my third Cuisinart food processor and I wouldn't be without one. The ability to change slicing and grating thickness was what prompted mr to upgrade to this model. The additional capacity for dough and the additional bowls were also key.

      I recommend this product.

    • Fantastic - what do I make next?

This is a fantastic processor. It is sturdy so that no matter what you put in, the machine stays put. The one draw-back is - it's HEAVY!!! But once on my counter, it is there and does not move. The positive for being so heavy - you mix, shred, slice, dice, etc. almost anything and it does not move. Blades are sharp so be careful when changing the thickness for slicing. When slicing potatoes, dust the potatoes every once in a while so the slices do not stick together. Be careful not to make them doughy or "breaded". Love the large bowl. Actually, I love the three nesting bowls - how cute and a great space-saving idea. The small bowl I do not use much but was great for nuts and bread crumbs. You can save $$$ with this machine - use the old bread to make bread crumbs and season them yourself. This was a gift from my hubby - but I got to pick what I wanted. I had my eye on this machine for awhile. Waited for Labor Day Sales so price was more do-able. Over-priced without a sale price. But then I never buy anything that is not on sale.

      I recommend this product.
