Useful for Candy & Oil as well. It's calibrated to the National Sanitation Foundation standards, the highest standard achievable, and accepted for commercial use, so it's extremely accurate. AAA batteries are included. *Temperature not to exceed 482 F. Doing so will deteriorate the wire. Not for microwave use.

This performed as advertised out of the box. But I hesitate to rate or recommend it on such a short time span..so as of today...Yes it is performing well...hope this helps...

I used this timer on a pork tenderloin roast just after I received it, and I wasn't pleased. It showed that the roast was at 160 degrees just 15-minutes after I put it in the oven. I tried readjusting the probe, but no change. However, the thing I liked least about this timer is that when it started beeping I could barely hear it from the next room. My other timers are so loud I almost jump when they beep, but with this one it took me a minute to realize what the sound was. Not the best choice.

The preset temperatures for the meat are much too high, but I set my own. Seems very accurate.

Great electronic therometer, used it on a roast a few days after it arrived, and it worked like a charm. Roast came out beautifully, and that was thanks to the thermoneter. The long cord from probe to the thermometer is most handy. The screen and digital read out makes it easy to read from accross the kitchen. The timer beeps, that lets you know when the food, be it chicken, roast, or sugar syrup is ready, and has reached the appropriate temperature.I would deffinately reccommend this product to family and friends.
