The 7 x 5.25-in. base is perfectly sized to hold a standard block of cheese while the 7.75-in. long curved handle offers substantial leverage and a comfortable grip. On the bottom of the cheese slicer are four non-skid grips to prevent slipping. Dishwasher-safe.

Blade design works well and the handle provides an excellent weight balance. Compact design is greatly for storage.

Overall excellent! A little finesse is necessary for the desired cut, but it is head and shoulders above other cheese slicers. I use this item daily and prefer it to any other slicer or knife I have used previously.

Cheese Slicer

I do not like the wire-cutter type cheese slicers and this is the only cheese slicer that fits what I have been looking for. The blade slices through cheese very easily and you don't have to worry about a wire breaking.

Nice Cheese Slicer

by Dan, CA
February 9, 2008

Overall, this is a very nice cheese slicer. The metal blade allows you to cut the hardest of cheeses.

However, because of its small size and smooth surface, it is a bit challenging to cut large, pie-shaped cheeses. The problem is that the cheese moves while you are slicing, thus making it difficult to stabalize. Getting the first slice was the biggest challenge. After several attempts, I decided to first cut the cheese in half with a large knife, thus reducing the angle by half and making it easier to slice.

Once getting the hang of it and even with this one small annoyance, I still like the slicer and look forward to many more slices.

This cheese slicer is very cheaply made. When trying to slice a block of hard cheese the base will flex and bend. So poorly made I couldn't give it to a friend for christmas. I had to return it and am still waiting for a refund or credit.

This product is a big improvement over the traditional wire slicer. It cuts cleanly, and is durable. It can cut both hard and soft cheeses. Great product

The slicer works great on firm cheeses such as Swiss or cheddar, less well on softer cheeses such as bleu. Unlike a thin wire, the blade tends to "gunk up" from softer cheeses. The blad is lots sturdier, though. The open slot is much easier to clean than similar boards with a marble base into which a groove is made.

If this slicer had a marble base it would be perfect. Because it's made of stainless steel, it's lightweight. You have to use one hand to hold the base down while raising the slicing arm, or the whole thing comes up off the counter.

The blade design is much better than the flimsy wire ones.

Would be nice if this design came in different sizes. I think I would want one just a bit bigger, but not too much bigger.

The only problem is, it needs to be longer so you can slice larger pieces of cheese. Other than that it works great!

this was a gift to a wine and cheese lover, so I don't have first hand knowledge of using this product. However, the person does love the slicer and said that the cheese must be cold before slicing,

I was very disappointed, the blade does not line up at all. I would have returned it but my husband threw away everything.

Unhappy with the size and construction

by Robin, WA

I bought this slicer to use cutting Med Cheddar Cheese. I can't even get a slice of cheese off of my block because the slicer is not big enough. I have to come around it 3 times from different angles to make it work and then it just breaks off on the last end. Not very useful for sandwhich slices. Also the blade seems to grate against the steel on the bottom making a horrid noise.

Fair Cheese Slicer

by ROGER, TN
October 15, 2009

The slicer DOES work - BUT- with a slab of cheese as shown in the picture - YOU MUST HOLD THE OTHER END in order to slice the cheese. Possibly half the height would work better. If they had placed some "roughness" on the bottom (where cheese sits) - It might have stayed better. I believe you MUST hold the cheese with a GOOD GRIP in order to slice cheese.
Worked well and cleaned very well if you are willing to grasp the cheese with a firm hand.

The slicing blade handle is loose making it very difficult to line up the blade with the base slot when cutting cheese. I went back to using my old standby knife.

The blade does not slice clean, there is cheese left on it. I believe it is to thick to give a clean slice. I tried several different kinds of cheese(hard and soft)just not happy with it but will keep trying to use it.

Really enjoy using this cheese slicer.....easy to use and to clean. Certainly beats using a knife where I end up with lopsided slices.

I purchased this hoping for a non-blade child-friendly product. After some practice, the children (ages 4 and 5) are doing well an appreciating the ability to serve themselves.
