Charming, gorgeous, and extremely talented, Giada De Laurentiis is the star of Food Network's Everyday Italian. She has also been seen in the network's All-Star Thanksgiving special with Emeril Lagasse, Rachael Ray, and others; cohosting (with Mario Batali) the Italian Christmas special and a cross-country series; and starring in her own special from Italy.

The reason for all the excitement? Beyond Giada's camera presence, it's her food; quick, simple, and bursting with the ripe, rich flavors that reflect the best of Italian home cooking. Giada is a Cordon Bleu-trained chef who's worked in some of L.A.'s finest restaurants, but she's also not afraid to use shortcuts and the occasional packaged ingredient. She makes it all look easy because it is, with such features as seven ways to transform red sauce, five variations on cutlets, four great uses for prosciutto, and more than 100 other dishes for speedy but special dinners. Filled with gorgeous photographs, this is the debut cookbook from a major new star.

The only thing I'd like to see changed about Giada's cookbooks is the absence of pictures for every entree. If I go to the FoodNetwork website for Giada's recepies, I can get a picture to go along with each recipe I print and this does probe to be helpful.

Unfortunately, as much as I like the author/cook and her recipes from her TV show, the recipe printings in the book are difficult to read. The print is very light and doesn't make for easy reading.

A Great Cookbook for a Novice or Professional

This is a very easy to use book. I have about 15 recipes that I regularly use. They are all very simply written and the techniques are easy to follow. We especially love the Panzanella Salad and the pasta sauces. The Cornmeal Cake is great too. I use this cookbook more than any other in my collection!

Good food that Italian friends recognize as Italian even if some recipes have American touches. Clear recipes with predictable results and good techniques.

Well I didn't purchase the cookbook for myself, but for my nephew's wife. She called me from Texas and she was absolutely ecstatic about it. She said she's already cooked two recipes within the two weeks from the time she received it. She said the recipes are almost exactly like the food we ate at restaurants while we were in Italy and ... they're so easy to make! She said I absolutely had to order the same cookbook for myself, which I plan to do right now.

Charming. First (of a series, I hope) cook book and most enjoyable. Again, wish recipies were keyed somehow to what was shown on the TV series Everyday Italian on Food Network.
