We’re looking for delectable and healthy holiday cookie recipes for a "Cookie Swap" article to appear in the November/December 2008 issue of EatingWell Magazine, Cooking.com's content partner. Take your favorite and give it a health-wise makeover (see guidelines below). EatingWell will evaluate recipes in their Test Kitchen and select one grand-prize winner and five runners-up.

Prizes:
  • One grand prize: $2,000 "Baker's Dream Kitchen" gift certificate from Cooking.com.
  • Five runners-up and one Readers' Choice winner: $200 gift certificate from Cooking.com.
  • All six finalists: The EatingWell Healthy in a Hurry Cookbook, The EatingWell Serves Two Cookbook, a year’s subscription to EatingWell Magazine and an EatingWell wall calendar.
  • Readers' Choice Sweepstakes: Later this year, you will be able to vote for a Readers' Choice winner. By voting, you may be entered into a sweepstakes to win a stand mixer of your choice, up to a $550 retail value, from Cooking.com!

Submit your recipe by June 2, 2008, using the form below.
All recipes are automatically entered into the contest. Winners will be notified no later than September 15, 2008.

When entering your recipe, consider the Healthy Cookie Guidelines used in the EatingWell Test Kitchen:

  1. Replace as much of the all-purpose flour as possible with other whole grains, such as whole-wheat flour, white whole-wheat flour or oats.
  2. EatingWell recipes do not use margarine or other partially hydrogenated oils. You can reduce the amount of saturated fat in the recipe by substituting canola or nut oils for some of the butter in the original recipe.
  3. Limit salt in recipes to 1/2 teaspoon or less per batch.
  4. Use all sweeteners (white and brown sugar, honey, etc.) judiciously; less is better.
  5. Steer away from ingredients containing artificial color or flavor. (Use natural versions whenever possible.)
