You may have seen cookbook holders that are designed to keep your large cookbooks propped open and elevated above the counter. They help keep the cookbook free of stains and splatters keeping the book off the counter surface. These racks are a good idea, but if you typically use recipe cards or recipes printed on regular paper, a cookbook holder is impractical. Recipe cards and loose pages will not work on these racks. They may slide off, or your pages can blow all over the kitchen if a window is opened.
The Recipe Rock is the perfect solution for this cooking conundrum. This nifty little gadget will help you keep your recipe collection neat, clean and free of stains and splatters. The Recipe Rock is a curved, resin "stone" into which a strong magnet is embedded. It has a large metallic ball that sticks to the stone by magnetic force.
To use the Recipe Rock, you remove the metal ball from the Recipe Rock and place your recipe card or page over the magnet. Then you set the metal ball in place. The magnetic force between the ball and the Recipe Rock holds your recipe firmly, much like a refrigerator magnet would. The magnet is strong enough to hold multiple sheets of paper or even index cards securely. The curve of the Recipe Rock helps your pages stand upright.
Never again will you have to try to peel a recipe card from your counter after it has been glued there by honey, corn syrup or another sticky mess. If you prefer to cook from Internet recipes, don't place your expensive electronics in danger of spills or messes. Print your recipes, and cook while the printed paper sheets stand upright using the fun and versatile Recipe Rock.
For its size, the Recipe Rock does all it says.
The magnet is strong and keeps recipes off the counter and out of the mess. Also, holds the recipe at a good angle for reading. Very happy with this purchase.
I picked up one of these several years ago to use on my desk because I didn't have a great deal of room for a copy stand. It works very well for that purpose and I kept wishing I had bought two of them to have an additional one in the kitchen. I finally got around to purchasing a second one for my kitchen and now I don't have to prop my internet recipe pages up on whatever happens to be available!
I ordered several (for Xmas gifts) and the first one out of the bag had the paint chipped (fairly significant area, too). I kept it for myself -- and will use it -- but had to order another to replace as a gift.
I have a very small kitchen with limited counter space and this takes the place of a large cookbook stand. It really does hold the recipe pages upright. Bought an extra for myself and more for presents.
I have spent years losing & finding my recipes in my kitchen while making one thing or another. This little recipe rock makes it so easy to keep track of and see my recipe during the prep process. I love it and have bought additional rocks to give as gifts!
