Makes the best Hambergers!

by Jerry, CA

I first thought that grinding meat was a big deal, it's not. This grinder works great I love it! The only thing that you have to make shure is that the ring that holds the grinding plate it place is not too tight. This will put exsessive stran on the motor.
I put it on just untill it stops and no more, because the auger is pushing the meat aganst the plate with alot of presher and keeps the ring tight. Makeing the ring too tight will most likely burn up the motor in your mixer. I hope that this helps anyone who has had this problem.

Do Not Buy This Ill-fated Product!!

by Tannis, MA
February 12, 2007

It killed my mixer!!! Now I'm facing about a $125.00 repair bill on my beautiful
K'Aid Stand Mixer that I've only had for a year!

The mixer now labors badly almost to the point where the motor might get damaged! Before I used this ill-fated grinder, the mixer worked beautifully with no problems.

The transmission is all messed up and some of the gears and the one that's in the accessory drive have to be replaced to get it working like new again.

Leave this product alone. Don't bother with it because it could ultimately destroy your K'Aid Stand Mixer, causing an expensive repair bill!!

Freeze the meat!

by Glenn, CA
May 19, 2007

It makes mush out of meat if it's not really cold. When the meat is near frozen it works like a charm.

I purchased the grinder and sausage stuffers to make holiday sausage. It emulsified the meat and took us twenty minutes to get a 12" ring. We switched to the old hand crank and got out 30 lbs. in about 40 mins. This would probably be fine for other things but not acceptable for sausage or probably meat grinding in general. Also the holes are too small and the pusher is a plastic thing not the wooden one they picture.

Sausage making

We found that the grinding operation works very well but stuffing the casings is very slow and painstaking. We will find an alternate means to filling casings for the future.

KA Food Grinder

by William, TX
June 28, 2008

This was purchased as a replacement for the one I had been using for over 20 years. On the old one the housing cracked where it fit into the KitchenAid mixer. I have no complaints. Had the first one not been so good for so long I would not have bought the replacement. I highly recomment the KitchenAid mixer and all of it's attachments. I use them often and always grind my own steak to use for hamburgers.

cheap garbage

by kevin, BC
January 8, 2009

save your money and buy a dedicated machine. The blade was so dull I had to sharpen it for 15 min before I could even use it. The stuffer atachment is a joke and is unusable. If I werent so far from the distributer I would have sent it back

Excellent game processor

by Brian, UT
November 26, 2007

Ground about 40 pounds of salami and jerky from deer this year in no time at all. Very fast and efficient device. Highly recommend for home processing. Only thing better would be a larger meat tray, which I think you can buy seperate.

Great upgrade from our old grinder....

WE have used an old sausage grinder and stuffer for many years. It was so much easier to accomplish our task with the new KitchenAid grinder and stuffer. We are planning our next food prep adventure.

Tempermental

by Rodney, TX
January 1, 2009

This grinder works fairly well. I bought it primarily to coarse grind meat for chili. It doesn't grind quite coarse enough for me. It requires extremely lean meat cut into relatively small cubes to function well. It works but you find yourself taking the grinder apart and pulling out peaces of fat and connective tissue that clog up the works. This is a pain. It's not easy and it is time consuming.

This product will pay for itself. Inexpensive cuts of meat (like London Broil) make great ground beef and are much cheaper. It's also great to combine lower fat meats (such as chicken or pork) to make a leaner meal.

I haven't used it with anything other than meat yet, but it works great so far.

Product works great, as long as you work out the moisture of the dough carefully.

Great in kitchen tool!

by Susan, AZ
June 13, 2010

While not industrial strength this meat grinder gets the job done nicely for my 3 to 4 pound roast that I like to grind. It struggles a bit on the fattier parts of the roast I pass through it but as long as the meat is very cold (almost frozen) it still come out nicely. Easily cleaned because all the parts are dish washer safe. I wouldn't think you could use this for 30 to 40 pounds of meat at a time because of the motor on the kitchen aid but for home use it is perfect!

Grinder Review

by Barbara, CA
September 20, 2011

Unfortunately, I will probably never use the grinder part of this attachment. I had to buy it to be able to use the strainer attachment. This fact wasn't mentioned when I bought the strainer attachment. I only saw this statement on the side of the package after it arrived and had to place another $50 order. I would suggest that all parts necessary for a device be sold together. I now have a $50 attachment that won't be used.

KitchenAid food grinder

by Carolee, CT
December 25, 2006

The upper part could be a little deeper. The plunger to push the meat down is nothing like the picture. It is made of white plastic and is not that easy to clean and I don't like the the handle on it.

Would like to see a grinder attachment that has a broader throat to feed food through; also a grinding plate that has larger openings in order to grind meat of a more coarse texture.

Need a better plunger

by ARTHUR, MI
December 26, 2008

Love being able to grind meat for sausages and this gadget does a great job. I wish the plunger, however wasn't designed to let the meat slip back up the throat of the grinder, but rather gave more positive pressure upon the meat toward the screw. Otherwise, I think this is super--and easy to clean, too
