Sold as a complete system. Not good for non or low acid foods. Can not do beans, beets, squash, carrots, sweet potatoes, potatoes, or turnip. That should of been said more in the advertisement. All we can see is it is a complete system. Better than half of the items we can can not be done by this system.
I believe that the company was miss leading in their advertisement for this product.
what happened to ball products being made in USA? this is a good quality product but I wish it was made in usa. we also have a few 1 gallon decorative jars in our house we bought the first one from wal mart and it also said made in china. a week later we found the gallon jar at rural king and it said made in usa. so we took it back to wal mart and they asked what the reason for the return was we said it is made in china. so we went to rural king and bought two more that are made in USA

Nice but utilization is too limited
Nice machine but unfortunately, we can only use their recipes which limits the use of the machine. I believe that they should give a chart for their recipes so we could adapt canning time to our own recipes. Too late, I realized that and I will have to buy a simple pressure canning machine to do what I want.
If you are canning for one or two people this is a great product. Cans small amounts at a time and is very easy to use. If you are single or a couple(young or old, working with little free time or maybe retired and do not have the energy you used to, this is the system for you. If you do not raise a large garden, do buy larger amounts of fruits or veggies on sale or from farms or farmers markets this could also be for you. Well worth the money in the ease of use and knowledge that your food is not full of added ingredients that are or may be harmful to you and in the pride that you did it yourself.
The Automatic Home canning system is easy to use. I prepared apple butter and it came out great. My only frustration is you cannot can everything in it like I thought when I bought it. Also it is only good for a specific number of hours of use not happy with that. 300.00 dollars for luis appliance is really too much with the limitations.
I recently purchased an Instant Pot electric pressure cooker and love it because I can adjust cooking time as needed for different recipes. Imagine my disappointment upon discovering that only a few recipes that are supplied with the FreshTech canner can be used in the FreshTECH canner. And all those recipes, including most of the tomato recipes, could be done in a water bath canner just as easily. I want to be able to can vegetables that truly need to be pressure canned. I haven't used the FreshTech yet, but do intend to keep it and will use it for tomatoes. But Jam? No way. I hope either some recipes will be developed for vegetables such as beets, or you remake your canner so people can adjust cooking time and pressure.
Having to rely on ball for the things that I can in this canning system does not allow me to be self reliant. I have been canning with a ball pressure cooker/canning for years, and am able to can safely. With the automatic canning system I am not able to know what pressure and time I can select, so I am limited on what I can can. At this time, I feel that I've paid a lot of money for a fancy water bath canning system. I have attempt to write to ball for help, but have not received any reply. I am keeping the system in hopes that I can figure out the recipe codes, but until it's more than a water bath I will not recommend the system to others.
I have also the FreshTECH Jam maker, which by the way, is wonderful. I have had that about 2 years now, and I have not yet tried this appliance out, but will hopefully this coming weekend, when I start my strawberry jam-making session(s)! It is a great looking appliance, which I do not mind having in my kitchen at all. As to the way it works, I am assuming it works great!
The canner is nice, but I didn't know ONLY recipes in the book can be canned. I would like to can beets in it. I could not find a way to register my canner on your website I called for help and she told me what to do ,but still, no place to register even after that. Disappointed. Thanks, Lorrie
It does a great job on the sealing of the jars. The downside is that it only holds 3 quart jars and it takes 1 hour and 20 minutes to process. I processed six quarts of tomato sauce, but it took up most of the day!
It is so nice NOT to have extra pots on the stove to preheat jars and to warm lids & rings. No lifting big & heavy canners, no water sputtering all over the stove--great! I wish the canner held more jars; but I can get the produce ready and then walk away while each small batch processes. All in all, I am happy I purchased the canning system.
A little expensive but good for a person that is new to canning and only needs to can a small amount of product. Helps beat the heat in the summertime, because you are not standing in a hot kitchen during the summer months. If you're using moms old recipes or like to experiment this product is not for you. It is restricted to specific recipes provided with the system or online.
I have canned for over 35 years. This product was very easy to use and I love it for being able to make small batches of the hot water bath items. It does not heat up the kitchen and makes short work of small batches that come in from the garden every day. There are not a lot of recipes as of yet, but I bet Ball will be working on that end of the canning process. This (the canner) takes a lot of time spent in the kitchen waiting for water to be just right for canning and having to time something watching the stove all the time.
We are very limited in the recipes available. No sweet pickles?! Any unable to adapt other ingredients like other brands of pectin or pickle and salsa mixes. Disappointed in that aspect, but love the ease and confidence of success with recipes I did use.
I have canned off and on for years, but was always afraid I would poison my husband. So this year I took a class from a university teacher. I felt a little more comfortable when we canned during the class, but of course the teacher was there to back us up. When I saw this canner, I knew this was the answer. Now canning is really fun because you don't have to worry if everything is sterile or the water boiled long enough. It takes out the guess work. So far I have made plum and strawberry jam and dill pickles. Next I am going to can some tomatoes and then go back to making jelly. One other thing, the low sugar recipes are wonderful because now you can taste the fruit and not just the sugar.
When I purchased this item, I fully expected to be able to can anything that I would normally boiling water bath preserve. Apparently, this is not the case. You must test and then give us more recipes for our use. For the money and these limitations, it was not worth it
I was so excited when my canner arrived. Couldn't wait to open & use it. By the second day I was elated to learn that it is was limited I really couldn't do serious canning. My Peach Pie and Apple Pie couldn't be canned, nor my green beans. My Pickle recipe only needed 10 minutes, fruit recipe only was for those like applesauce. I hope that the next generation of canners can have similar settings such as microwaves with pressure selection and times. That could make it a simple to use for any recipe, Not just the few "approved" recipes.
I absolutely love this canner! It has cut my time in the kitchen down and the tempearature is not soring like it is outside! I am able to do several batches in a realitive small amount of time. Love it! Love it! Love it!
Only downside is not being able to adapt my own recipes for canning!
