A great improvement over the rolling pin. The large flat surface prevents divets in the meat, and it's weight helps. I also like that I can use lots of hot soapy water for cleaning without worrying about wood.

Pleased Meat Pounder

by Pauline, NJ
April 26, 2009

The Oxo meat pounder is 'just right' for both my husband's hand and mine - he has short wide fingers and mine are long and slender. We both liked the feel of the grip which made pounding much easier. The weight is evenly distributed and it's just the right weight ... not too heavy, not too light. It thins the meat but doesn't mash or mush it. It's easy to clean but fitting it into the drawer for storage was interesting. We decided to leave it on the countertop instead. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

This is an excellent product. Im have used it to tenderize less expensive cuts of beef. I moisten 2 pieces of [plastic wrap, putbthe meat between them and pound from the center out. It works great on flank steak.

I used this pounder to make an Italian chicken dish. It worked great. It was very easy to use, and because of the size and weight, it only took a couple of minutes to flatten the chicken. I like the the product very much. It is also very well made, so I know I won't have to ever replace it. Oxo makes great products.

I love the feel of this tool and its ease of use. The flat side is ample and made quick work of everything I've pounded with it the ribbed side is aggressive enough to handle tough meats without shredding the plastic freezer bag in which I usually pound meat.

All that and a cushy handle! It's my favorite piece among many OXO hand tools.

Great item!

For years I had one of the old mallet type meat pounders, finally one day the top flew off and I knew it was time for a new meat pounder. The weight of the OXO Meat Pounder does a lot of the work and the grip is comfortable. I typically find OXO has superior kitchen gadgets.

This was the pounder I have been looking for. I have one that looks like a hammer and it is hard for me to use. With this one I have more control. My husband liked it very much too. I would buy this again.

This is the best meat pounder i've ever used. The soft grip handle is perfect for those of us who suffer from arthritis. The large diameter of the pounding surface and the weight of the pounder make it easy to use.
