  • Bait and Switch???

I have not used the product enough to give a viable opinion on it just yet. I just wanted to share the fact that what was pictrured in the description is not what you receive. I am refering to the temp probe cord. Pictured is a wire braided probe lead; what is sent is a silicone insulated lead. Reading the package, as I am pondering returning or not, I see stated boldly "1 year guarantee". This sways me to at least open it and try it. Upon opening and then reading the enclosed paperwork I am dismayed to see in the "fine print", the 1yr guarantee EXCLUDES the probe. Should I have researched better in the beginning.... probably. Hope I get my monies worth out of it, because right now I am not sold on it being worth what I spent.

  • Works well, so far! My only complaint is the no on/off switch. It's not a big deal to remove the battery~just a nusence.

    I recommend this product.

  • Very practical and easy to use. Only drawback is that there is not an "off" button, and we have to take the battery out after each use.

    I recommend this product.

  • Does the job

Water boils at 210-211 Fahrenheit - and I suppose that's less than 1% off so I can't complain too much. One degree can make a difference with some cultures (cheese, yogurt, etc.) so I use caution, but for the price I can't ask for more. The on/off button located on the bottom of the unit is a strange and inconvenient place to put it, but not a big deal. Otherwise, the reading is fast and consistent. I find most thermometers in a certain price range all perform equally, so I recommend finding your price point and shopping by style/feature.

    I recommend this product.

  • thermometer with outside the oven reading

The thermometer is very accurate and convenient. You can read the food's temperature without opening the oven and releasing heat. It also has a clip to attach the probe to the side of a pan, and a timer which can be used together with the thermometer.

    I recommend this product.

  • I was glad to see that on the newer models of the Polder thermometer/timer that the wire cord was now encased and that the wire was no longer exposed. My older Polder (same model) wire cord was not encased and eventually broke. Thanks Polder for the new design.

    I recommend this product.

  • Great product HIGHLY recommended!

This is actually the second one of these I've purchased, and it is a gift for my daughter to use in her new home. I love mine and wouldn't part with it. I use it in the oven to roast meats, on the cooktop to make candies, etc, and for the timer function constantly. I highly recommend this item!

I've purchased several like products form other manufacturers. They were not good...they all broke after a few uses. This one works great.

  • High Tech Help for Daily Cooking

I plan to use this for the Thanksgiving Turkey and the Christmas Roast. No more guessing if the meat is ready or not. It provides so much feedback on the baking state of what is being cooked. I am thrilled to have it.

  • A Must Have for Most Cooks

If you are hosting a large party, or cook regularly for hungry teens, the Polder Digital Classic Thermometer is a must have. Unless you own an oven with a well calibrated thermometer, this product will allow you to determine doneness according to internal temperature, instead of the less accurate cooking time x oven temperature process. Don't forget to set the alarm to a temperature approximately 5-10 degrees below your target temp. While the roast or bird is resting, the temp will continue to climb to your intended temperature. Never be disappointed by undercooked poultry or roast beef again!

    I recommend this product.
