Interesting concept for avocados

The avocado must be firm-ripe. If it is too soft the gadget slices through mush. It's good for removing the pit, and it does make pretty slices for salads, etc. That's all I ask of it.

I have been eating avocados for over 70 years, preparing an old fashion way using a paring knife. Finally an avocado slicer, that really works. Perfect uniform slices for salads, but more important for avocados on toast for breakfast. Quality product, easy to clean.

It's such a joy to find kitchen gadgets that do exactly what they were designed to do. If the avocado is too ripe (soft) this slicer will be no good to you. It will not make the nice and even slices because the fruit is to mushy. The joy of using it is when the avocado is firm. There are no real picture instructions that come with this tool, and while it's use is pretty straight forward (no rocket science involved) getting the hang of removing the pit, and making perfect slices is a matter of practice and use.

Avocados aren't cheap, and wasting any while trying to get the pit out is such a pity, but incredibly, the pitting end of this ingenious tool extracts any pit instantly, flawlessly and without needless trauma to the rest of the avocado. That alone is worth the price. Still trying to learn the slicing end of the tool -- probably takes more practice. We will definitely enjoy more avocados more often.
