Wendy Hutton, a New Zealander by birth, first came to Southeast Asia in 1967 and has worked in the region ever since, specializing in writing on travel and food. She is the author of Tropical Asian Cooking, A Cook's Guide to Asian Vegetables, and a number Periplus Nature Guides on tropical vegetables, fruits, and herbs and spices. She lives in Sabah, Malaysia.
