Customer Reviews

At last, an egg poacher that is satisfactory!

by Susan, DC
April 14, 2008

I love good poached eggs, but I have always disliked the mess that gets made whenever eggs are poached - sticky, hard-to-clean pans, especially. This little gem takes care of the whole problem, quickly and neatly. And it's fun to use!

Just crack an egg and drop it into an oiled PoachPod. Then float the PoachPod in a water-filled sauté pan, and place a cover on it. (That seems like fun to me!) In a few minutes, a perfectly cooked, perfectly shaped poached egg will be ready. Tur te PoachPod inside-out with a quick push, and the egg is ready to be admired – and then consumed! It's very easy to clean the PoachPod. Thoroughly satisfactory!

PoachPods are great!

by Noelle, NC

I love poached eggs but have never been able to do it in the traditional way. I also tried some microwave versions but those never worked very well either. The PoachPod worked perfectly the first time. It seems a little expensive, though.

Perfectly Poached

by Vickee, CO

I purchased the PoachPods after reading a review on America's Test Kitchen. Poaching eggs before in boiling water was a crap shoot. I never knew what they were going to end up like. And forget 'eggs as you like them'; they came out however they came out - usually overdone and rubbery.
Now with the PoachPods - perfect eggs every time! I lightly oil each pod and place in boiling water. I crack each egg into a cup and then pour into the pod resting in the water. I cover, turn down the heat so it's just barely boiling and cook 5 minutes. I use a rubber spatula to loosen the eggs from the Pods. VOILA! Perfect eggs! They are pretty dense (they are in the shape of the cup), so I cut holes in the toast or place on toasted bagels if I'm doing eggs benedict.

This makes the most evenly poached eggs of anything I have tried, and the easy release from the silicone is incomparable. I ordered these for gifts after using them myself. They are little on the expensive side, but comparable to most silicone products.

I was skeptical about using the poachers but found they worked very well. They do need to be oiled well and the eggs do slip right out. I can't wait to try them with custard. I'll have to get some more of them and try that. You do need to use the slotted spoon under them to keep them firm when removing them from the water. Very cool.

Slick Little Pods

by Deborah, IN
November 11, 2008

I was hesitant at first to purchase these PoachPods due to the price, but I was tired of poached eggs sticking to the stainless steel and non-stick poachers I already had. I am very glad I purchased them! Just a squirt of nonstick spray and my perfectly cooked eggs fell out onto my plate in nice little domes. I am very pleased with them.

Love of Poached Eggs

by John, AZ
October 13, 2008

I love eggs in any fashion but my real favorite for breakfast are poached eggs. I have tried every method I have ever seen in print and I have purchased every gizmo over the years that has been offered and nothing has worked. Using the PoachPods I am now able to not only poach delicious eggs exactly the way I want them, but they also look presentable if I have a guest for breakfast. I recommend using butter to baste the PoachPods instead of oil ....more favor in the eggs. Great device ...thanks a million!

I love the pods. I love poached eggs but hated fixing them and the pots always got yucky, but not now. Great invention.

Quick and easy egg poacher

by Carlyle, CA
December 17, 2009

After using my new PoachPods on several occasions, I purchased another dozen to use as stocking stuffers this Christmas. They make a perfect poached egg every time and they're so easy to use and clean up. They're much better than conventional metal egg poachers.

Works like a charm ! I sprayed them with cooking spray, dropped an egg in each and set them in water in a small pan with a glass lid so I could monitor them as the eggs cooked. Perfect !

Poaches Eggs like a pro!

by Sondra, IN
February 25, 2009

I think I have tried every way imaginable to make good poached eggs but none turned out as good as with these little pods! They are so easy! I just sprayed a little cooking spray in them and followed the instructions that came with them. The eggs were delicious. They are easy to clean and take up no extra space in my cabinet. I'm so glad I tried these. As always the Food Network Store is great to do business with. Thanks for offering this product.
