Master the arts of all-in-one meals and steamed bread with the Staub 5.75-qt. Coq Au Vin Grenadine Cocotte. Made in the Alsace region of France, this Dutch oven is named for the famous wine-braised chicken dish. The design is exceptional for slow cooking and braising meats, and self-basting spikes on the lid keep flavor where it belongs--in your food. You can build layers of flavor by browning mirepoix on the stovetop, then adding the rest of your ingredients and finishing your creation slowly in the oven to allow the flavors to meld and deepen.

We also love using this Dutch oven for baking artisan bread; we get a perfect rise and crispy crust every time. The grenadine enamel finish gives Staub's oval cocotte a traditional, almost antique look, and the pot's enamel is scratch resistant, allowing you to stir and saute with confidence. Cast in a sand mold, this oven provides incredibly even heating and, of course, rugged durability that makes it a candidate for a family heirloom. It's also dishwasher safe, giving you the benefits of a good cast iron pan without the need to season it or adapt to new cleaning methods. Your family's mouths will water when they smell what you're cooking in this cast iron cocotte. The Coq Au Vin dutch oven is a versatile cookware essential for any connoisseur--and it comes with a lifetime warranty.

Features:
  • Beautiful triple-enameled, grenadine-colored finish
  • Self-basting spikes in the lid
  • Heavy-duty cast iron works with any heat source, including induction

  • Excellent value

Yeah, it's not cheap, but it lasts a lifetime and you can use it for all sorts of foods. Compared with a similar Le Creuset, it seems to brown things better, as well. From baking bread, chili, braised foods, and roasted chicken, this thing is my favorite kitchen tool next to a chef's knife. Also it looks really pretty. I highly recommend it.

    I recommend this product.

  • Worth the money!!

This makes the best soups, stew, etc. So far I have made Gumbo and French Onion Soup. It keeps things from burning (I have a tendency to do too many things at once and get distracted.) I have also found it easy to clean.

    I recommend this product.

  • great chicken in a pot -pot

I ordered THIS dutch oven after looking at many (some more expensive and some less) the description and manufactoring information was available on cooking . com and upon receipt this information was correct. I think this purchase was a good value for offered price. This dutch oven has performed wonderfully and looks great sitting on the stove top when not in use.

    I recommend this product.

  • Perfect!

By far, this is my new favorite cooking vessel! Beautiful to look at, excellent performance and extremely durable. The ONLY drawback is that it is heavy as heck so I took extra care when handwashing it in my porcelain sink. The best!

    I recommend this product.

  • Information on product

I have not used the product yet but I love the way it looks and the way it is made. It looks sturdy and looks like I will get many years of service from it. My only complaint is the information booklet I think that is what it is it's written in several other languages but not in English. Why is that I am sure other English speaking people have purchased this product. So please tell me why it is not also in English?

    I recommend this product.

  • Superior Cooking Tool

We love our dutch oven by Staub. The quality is worth the price. We tried other dutch ovens and found them falling apart/chipping after only a couple of uses. We are 'flexitarians' who tend to cook a lot of veggie meals that we can spread out throughout the week. We choose organic, natural, and local foods and the flavors meld together and cook thoroughly in our Staub. Let us know if you have any questions, fred@organicfred.com and check out our products at www.OrganicFred.com
