Chief Financial Officer

We are seeking a dynamic CFO to oversee our Finance Team! This individual will report directly to the CEO. The CFO is accountable for the administrative, financial, and risk management operations of the company, to include the development of a financial and operational strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results.

As the leading online marketplace for the kitchen, Cooking.com operates its own site and 20+ uniquely branded websites for leading brands in the food and cooking space.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

Strategic Planning
  • Assist in formulating the company's future direction and supporting tactical and financial initiatives
  • Develop financial and tax strategies
  • Manage the capital request and budgeting processes
  • Develop performance measures that support the company's strategic direction
Operations
  • Participate in key decisions as a member of the executive management team
  • Manage accounting, investor relations, legal, tax, and treasury
  • Manage any third parties to which financial functions have been outsourced
  • Oversee the financial systems
  • Oversight of the company’s financial operations: financial planning, policies and contracts
  • Analyzing the company’s operations, cost structure and productivity and providing the appropriate metrics to management
Financial Information
  • Oversee the issuance of financial information
  • Report financial results to the board of directors
Risk Management
  • Understand and mitigate key elements of the company's risk profile
  • Monitor all open legal issues involving the company, and legal issues affecting the industry
  • Construct and monitor reliable control systems
  • Maintain appropriate insurance coverage
  • Ensure that the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies
  • Report risk issues to the board of directors
  • Maintain relations with external auditors and investigate their findings and recommendations
Funding
  • Monitor cash balances and cash forecasts
  • Arrange for debt and equity financing with the CEO
  • Raise capital with the CEO
  • Invest funds
Third Parties
  • Maintain banking relationships
  • Represent the company with investment bankers and investors


Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree; MBA and/or CPA is a plus.


Required Skills and Experience:
  • At least 10 years of experience in public company experience in either the CFO role or direct report to the CFO, or partner level experience in a BIG Four accounting firm.
  • A strong operations grounding with the capacity to go beyond the numbers and understand the company’s processes. An ability to reduce costs, improve productivity and enhance profitability.
  • Investor relations experience, either directly or in a close support position.
  • M&A, IPO and capital markets experience.
  • Exposure to a consumer driven internet business.
  • Ability to effectively operate with flexibility in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Highly motivated and organized; able to multi task and work independently.
