VP of Technology

We are seeking a VP of Technology to join our Team! This technology executive will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer and will provide leadership across multiple technology teams including; software development, quality assurance, project management and information technology. This position is responsible for the daily technical and administrative management of the Technology department and the processes that govern product development. The VP of Technology is also responsible for managing the Technology roadmap and establishing the department's technical strategic vision. This position requires the management of in-house and offshore resources.

KEY POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Technology Strategy - Will be the driving force for the company’s technology leadership and strategy. As such, will be expected to contribute in setting company’s technical direction, including new product development and R&D efforts. Ensure technology matches both the strategic and business needs of the company. This position defines and owns the technology roadmap.
  • Agile Software Development Process - Will be the process leader that champions the continued evolutionary improvement of Agile best practices across the company. This role will be responsible for the continuous process improvement to increase the efficiencies of deliverables across multiple organizations. Track and report key lean metrics to measure departmental performance.
  • Management of Offshore Development Team – Will be the key individual in providing efficient communications, technical oversight, insuring Agile process compliance and providing relationship management with offshore executives.
  • Development - Provide best-practices mentorship in software development & test methodologies, design & code reviews, configuration management, post-partum reviews, defect tracking/reporting, selection of software tools and schedule & resource estimation.
  • Technology Project Management - Will plan and manage execution of all new technology efforts for the company. Will work closely with various project teams to oversee budgets, timelines, resources, external hardware and software vendor relationships, and progress towards meeting deadlines. Will orchestrate company resources to bring projects in on time and within budget.
  • Advances in Technology Initiatives - Forward looking technologies used in Cooking.com’s products will come from the company’s technology team. It will be the responsibility of the VP Technology to work closely with all departments to communicate about new technologies under development and how to apply these technologies to future product releases.
  • Functional Design - Will ensure the business requirements for all projects are well defined and interpreted into the appropriate user stories. All development must be done in a manner to promote its re-use from one site to another. Continually working with the product development teams to improve the efficiency on how quickly a new site can be brought up.
  • Staff Development - Will build, grow, mentor and manage a high performance experienced team that delivers products that meet all requirements and specifications on time and within budget.


Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree, Masters a plus


Required Skills and Experience:
  • At least 15+ years of solid software development of complex commercial products.
  • Strong technical understanding of the Microsoft stack (IIS, WCF & SQL Server) for building scalable eCommerce solutions.
  • Broad comprehension of open source initiatives and how to apply those technologies to benefit the company's strategic goals.
  • Strong understanding of data center and network operations.
  • A record of success in developing, delivering and maintaining high-performance and high-availability ecommerce solutions or optimization services.
  • Shown success at continuous improvement in the development process and ongoing maintenance with a track record of improved cost for both
  • Certified Scrum Master & Product Owner desirable.
  • Experience with NoSQL databases desirable.
  • Supported Direct Marketing and/or database marketing desirable.
