Really great for large things. Don't see this size anywhere.

Color Problem

Looking at the illustration presented in the Ball literature the Jars are a nice amber color. That is what I expected, however, what I received was a set of six clear glass half gallon jars. The illustration presents the product in a manner in which it does not apparently exist.

I've been looking for half-gallon Mason jars for quite some time, and I finally found them here and for an excellent price.

Sun Tea

We use these for Sun Tea. Excellent value and perfect size. The wide mouth opening makes cleaning these very easy. Perfect for canning or keeping drinks colder in the refrigerator. Preserves freshness of raw nuts milks.

The half gallon jars are great for storing dry goods such as pasta, beans, rice, etc. They are air tight and allow you to see what is in the jar and how much you have left.

Comparable to store prices

I checked some prices for canning items while shopping recently and these prices were as good or better (if your order qualifies for free shipping). I also have never seen this size jar before seeing on cooking.com, and am glad I did not have to drive all over the place looking for them.

Great size!

I bought these to make a pickled salad that I could keep in the frig for up to 2 months. This is the perfect size and shape!

Lots of pickles

It was great finding such large canning jars. I make dill pickles and the smaller quart size just don't hold enough for some people . I have not used them yet , next pickle season I will .

Fabulous!

These are fabulous for food storage! Remember to buy the separate white plastic lids. These are a lot less expensive, than those glass containers and, a lot stronger! I highly recommend this product!

Dehydrated and Dry Food Storage

Beans, rice, flour, coffee, tea--you name it and I can store it. Topping off the pantry is easy simply by looking through the glass. I gave my smaller pint jars to my neighbor and she stores her spices in them. We both benefit.

1/2 gal jars

I was pleased to know these jars were still available. I haven't found them on the shelf for years. I use them for dry storage, pasta, beans, rice, flour, etc.

Dry Storage

I use the jars to store dehydrated foods as well as dry food items like rice, beans, etc. They work great and there are no problems with critters.

A great size option

We were excited to find these available. Some will be used for counter-top storage [dry goods] and some will be used for refrigerator pickles and some even for canning some day. I imagine these would be perfect for raw milk containers as well. Thanks for making this size available!

Search for 1/2 gallon jars

I make homemade tomato juice and quart size jars are just too small. I knew Ball manufactured a half-gallon jar, but it was not available locally. An internet search on the Ball website gave me what I needed. I placed an order for 2 cases (of 6 jars each) with the company listed and received it promptly. The sales person was extremely courteous and helpful, and even alerted me to a free shipping promotion that was going on! How wonderful! I know I will be re-ordering these jars.
