Krumkake Express is the greatest invention. I had been looking for it for years. I was used to it from Norway where my mother had one, none electric.
I have also ordered one for my daughter-in law.
Berit Zaloga.
I've been making krumkaka using a traditional stovetop krumkaka iron for over 35 years. Since we purchased a new ceramic top range, I knew I'd either have to stop making them or purchase an electric iron. The reviews were very mixed, and I was concerned that I would be unhappy with the results. I'm happy to say that I was very pleased with the way the krumkaka turned out. I must have been lucky in setting the temperature dial, because i didn't have to do any adjusting. With my stovetop iron, I was able to rotate the iron so that it could be taken off the bottom of the iron. With the electric iron, it adhered to the top part of the iron rather than the bottom, but that was a minor inconvenience. Also, I found that the butter needed to be more thoroughly blended into the batter (a bit of laziness on my part). They cook quickly because you don't have to turn the iron as they cook. For some reason, they seem much hotter and also must be rolled quicker because they seem to dry faster. One of our sons did say that they weren't quite as thin as usual, but I think that as I use it more I'll be able to adjust the thickness to our taste.
I thought about purchasing the double iron, but because of the reviews, I chose the single. After using it, I wish I had purchased the double iron.
