I was very impressed with the butter bell crock. Easy to use, cute on the dinner table, no messy butter dishes and when turn around it has a steady bottom.
To load it we simply wait until the bell is empty, then take a stick of soften butter, unwrap it, save the waxed paper, place one end on the bell and a with the waxed paper squish the butter into the bell to make it fit. Smooth the butter at the top of the bell with the waxed paper and that's it. No mess! Very easy and the butter is ready to spread and soft but not melted. I definitely recommend it.
