Martha's Entertaining is Martha Stewart's most personal book yet. For the generation of readers (and now their daughters) who have been followers of Martha since she published her bestselling book Entertaining in 1982, and for the legions of fans she has through her publishing, broadcast, and merchandise empire, the recipes and stunning lifestyle photography will inspire them to host friends and family and also give them a broad look into Martha's beautiful world.

With a book fittingly elegant from the doyenne of gracious living, Martha returns to the topic that launched her empire--entertaining--featuring four seasons of her parties and a diverse collection of all-new recipes, rich photography, and inspiration. Featured events include a Friday night Bolognese dinner for Columbus Day weekend guests, a Sunday blueberry breakfast, a lobster picnic on the boat in Maine; a children's lunch after an Easter egg hunt, a summer cocktail party to benefit an arts association, and an elegant Thanksgiving in Bedford. Each party is accompanied by menus and stories for dreaming and planning, while the recipes are collected at the back of the book for more practical use and reference. Throughout, readers will find helpful tips, Martha's favorite table settings, personal anecdotes, and hundreds of creative ideas.

A beautifully compiled cookbook

by Matthew, CA

I purchased this Martha Stewart cookbook after seeing the one a friend had purchased. The book is well organized by event/holiday/season. The photography within the book is extremely well done and worth the price of the book alone. Speaking of price, I was a bit taken aback by the $50 price, but the hardcover book itself is large - 400+ pages (printed on high quality paper stock) and its approximately 10" x 11" and close to 3" thick. I think it weighs close to 6 lbs. It almost could be classified as a "coffee table" book as the visual enjoyment is high. I have not tried any of the recipes yet, but there are several on my list.

I noticed several reviewers complaining about the "signature". When I ordered my copy the site and the email clearly stated it was a bookplated edition. It was clear to me that Martha did not hand sign the book but rather the bookplate - pretty common practice unless you go to an author book signing event. I guess if one is a collector that could be a little upsetting, but I did not buy this book because of the signed bookplate nor do I think that is its real value. Once you have seen the book, I think most will agree.

Rip Off!!

I bought this as a gift for my mother because she is a huge Martha Stewart fan and thought having a signed copy if her book would be special. This book was NOT hand signed, but rather just a copy of her signature! I believe it is quite misleading. Why even list this in the product description if not only to deceive the buyer.
I am VERY DISAPOINTED and will strongly re-consider any further purchases from COOKING.com!!

This is a huge book! The images are beautiful and every event detail is very well thought-out. I also love the step-by-step pictures in the recipe section in the back. It's so helpful to know that I'm on the right track while making new recipes.

No Signature?...

by Sonia, NV
February 9, 2012

I ordered the book the day I saw the e-mail knowing it would be signed by Martha Stewart.
There is only a square sticker on the inside
cover that has an "imprinted" signature...
Is that what you mean by a "signed" copy?
I am disappointed that it doesn't have a
pen and ink signing.

Did they make a mistake?
