I bought this mixer on sale, with free shipping and a manufacturer's rebate, plus, no sales tax.
My main reason for buying it was to knead yeast doughs for bread. The motor is rated at 450 watts which is only enough to knead 6 cups of whole wheat flour (12 cups of all-purpose). That information is buried in the owner's manual and really should be clearly stated in the sales description/specifications on the Website
If you hope to do any bread making, DO NOT even think of buying the KitchenAid Artisan model with its puny 325 watt motor! The Artisan might be fine for cakes, frostings and whipped cream, but not kneading bread doughs.
I'm pleased with the chrome colored paint and glad it isn't one of the hidious colors offered on other KitchenAids
I recommend this product.
