Whistle doesn't work

This kettle's whistle doesn't work. I've experimented with water levels and burner size. I've complained to Kitchen Aid but have only gotten "canned answers" in response. I am very dissatisfied.

This tea kettle is very attractive and well-designed. Unfortunately, we are returning it because at our age (in the eighties) and weak hands we find it too heavy and the lid too difficult to pull off.

For me it did not handle as well as I would liked because I have arthritis in my hands perhaps I needed to choose a different model. One that is easier to handle. But overall I am pleased.
